I might have broken something on the computer plugging or unplugging a USB cord today. I was trying to plug in my digital camera but it wasn't working. I found on the ground a tiny piece of something. I think it was from the computer! So now is the USB port unrepairable? Omg. I feel so bad right now because this isn't just my computer- it's the entire family's!!

Well, I think computers usually have more than one USB port.

did it look like one of the metal teeth inside the port or the plastic thing that holds the plug in place? What did the piece look like? Are you sure you've got the camera connected right, or pushed the cable in all the way?

+ I'm sure that one USB port could be repaired, but someone please correct me! :P

The piece that came out is plastic, so it might be the holder.
I seriously hope I can get this fixed. Maybe I should ask my friend for help, he's good with computers.

There cant be much wrong with it, does it work in other ports?

What other ports? (Pardon me, I am really not that technical-savvy when it comes to computers... or anything really.)

Well ever since USB came out there was usually more than one USB socket, does it work with the others?

Are the other USB sockets in the back of the computer or in the front?

On a modern computer (up to 5 years old) there is usually at least 2 sockets at the back and at least 1 at the front.

I'll have to ask someone for help. I'll probably mess it up more on my own.

Well unless I'm mistaken there are no USB ports in the back of the computer. This sucks so much. I have no idea what to do. For all I know it might be impossible to fix.
