Sorry if its tmi but I am suffering from really, really, maddening itchy nipples. Not the rest of my boobs, just the nipples. They are also really dry and have flaky skin ?! What can I do about this ? Is it normal ? Do you think its the cold or hormone related ?

Hmm I dont really know if it will help but have you tried cream or oil. Something to keep them from getting dry? It helps with eczema... A bit, soo

How long has it been going on?
It’s been on and off since the start of winter, but the past couple of weeks I’ve started going swimming again and it’s been getting worse.
I’m hoping with the weather starting to get better the sun and fresh air will help clear it up as I’m not too keen on going to the doctors…

I'm not a girl, but if that were happening to me I'd probably go see my doctor, and I hope you do so. It doesn't sound like anything too serious - but it does sound uncomfortable.

I know this is probably an even more awkward question, but do you experience any discharge along with the other symptoms? If so, this could possibly be a breast infection. If they're just itchy and dry though, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.
As well, if it's on and off, do you notice it happening around your period? It's a common pre-symptom of menstruation and pregnancy. I assume since it's been continuous off and on it isn't the latter. :P Just an idea though, cause it's very common if it's around your period that you're experiencing it.
For the dryness, I'd just recommend a fragrance-free lotion/moisturiser, see if it clears up after a while of doing that. I'd encourage you to go to the doctor but if you aren't experiencing any lumps, swelling, or discharge I wouldn't be too worried about it if you can't.

I had the same exact thing happen to me a few months ago, and i was convinved i had breast cancer....I put cream on it, and I was fine a few days later. It happened again about a month ago, and I figured out it happens before my period arrives.
Just put some lotion on it, or anti-itch cream and that should do the trick :) I hope I helped. :)

if you think so then you should definitely see a doctor!
how on earth are you going to cope with std yourself?
or how do you expect US to help?
just itchy nipples can be just dry and need lotion but std is serious!

Seriously would you go to the doctors if you were me? It would be so embarrassing trying to explain to the doctor what was wrong and you just know they would want to take a look at things

So. what are you going to do then, Ignore the problem? hope it goes away?
Seriously when it comes to your health and well being I would not take any chances.
The saying goes, the sooner the better.
If you leave this and it is something semi serious it could become even worse.
So please visit your doctor.

Yes just find someone you are comfortable with and get them to come with you. A good friend or family member maybe? Don't just leave the problem for it to possibly get worse as you will be in a much harder possition if you do nothing about it.

you can buy nipple cream at pharmacy's. pregnant women use it for their nipples when they get chapped from nursing.
