Warning: this post is written guitar-speak. Guitar geeks only!

I play electric guitar and have been borrowing one for about a year. I just found out yesterday that the lender actually needs it back, so I'm stuck with a bit of a problem.

After saving up a bit, I decided to buy a new guitar. Thing is, I don't know which one. I've got about 1000. I don't want a discount guitar (Squier, Epiphone... those pieces of junk). Maybe a Tele, maybe a Strat, maybe something else...

I like a tone somewhere in between a warm, fat humbucker and a single coil.
Let me know what you guys think.

What kinds of music are you gonna be playing? Tele's are always great, and you can get a really nice one with the money you have. I think Schecter guitars are also worth looking at. They make really good guitars, and aren't mega-expensive. I own the Solo 6 Custom, which is amazing, imo. Plays great, stays in tune, and can take a beating. It retails for around $900, but you should be able to find one for $600 if that's what you decide on.

Here's some links to guitars you might wanna check out:

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law

I will always recommend a Steinberger.

If you've got $1000 USD to spend I can definitely recommend an Fender American standard HHS strat.

The difference between the HHS and the SSS is that the bridge pick-up on the HHS is a humbucker rather then a single coil but you still get the other two pick-ups as a single coil.

If you're going all the way to town with that money on a geeetar (jokes) then I'd recommend a 69' American Strat. They have loads of warmth and treble to their tone if you want and they're just incredibly diverse beasts. I you have the right pedal setup with a good amp backing you up, you could get what you want out of it.

I always thought Tele's were a bit too trebley, but they're good too. It all depends on what you're going to be busting out really.
