Extended Family Relationships

Hi.
So I have quite a lot of extended family who live interstate. The only thing is, I barely ever get to communicate with them. I’d really like to have better friendships with my family, and they really are nice people, but I have no idea how to… approach the situation. Any help or advice with this would be greatly appreciated!

Why not find them on facebook, or maybe see if they can get a skype. Or as simple as calling them on the phone from time to time. I'm glad you wanna keep a relationship going with you family, that sounds nice. :)

I definitely do, and I already have some of them on facebook... I call them on some birthdays & christmasses from time to time, but we can't really afford to make interstate calls, really :( As much as I want to keep a relationship going with them, I really don't know how to converse with them. It's much easier to do that in person, I don't know why but whenever I make a phone call there's a billion silences and things get awkward.

Do you think you all could get webcams and skype them? Maybe seeing them will help to not make the convo as silent

Possibly. I'll give that a shot. Hm, just a random thing but my avatar is a shot out the window of the jet on the way back from my Grandpa's 70th, last year :)
