2 Questions

I'd like Admins to answer this only :-)

Since I'm coming up on 2,500 posts, I'd first like to know if I have to live with the title 'VT Lover' above my post count face or can I request another title?

Secondly, are .png files too large to upload for post count faces on VT? (just out of curiosity for the future)

Actually, I've forgotten about that, but I think that we should start doing that custom titles thing. I'll see if I can fool around with Promotions and give people with beyond 2,500 posts the ability to use a custom title. And PNG files are fine. While very high quality (one could almost say, loss-less quality) PNG files are actually smaller than a completely uncompressed JPEG file or a BMP file. Especially for an avatar or an icon, PNG images are fine. Though I will have to see how much space is left on the server and see if I'm going to have to use my own server to host images or not.

Good news: I just checked out the Promotion system and I can definitely do this. All I have to do is make another usergroup and set all the permissions on all of the forums to the same thing as Registered Users - which will probably take me 30 minutes to do.

Bad news: The only reason I'm up right now was to call into work because of pink eye and my manager Josh told me that if I didn't have an excuse from a clinic tomorrow, then I don't have a job :| Oh, right, but my point is that I'm going to go back to sleep for approximately 8 hours and then implement this procedure. Be patient and you'll have slightly extra abilities by the end of the day (not really the end of the day, but you know what I mean).

yup thats what i had to do on my domain :p its a hassle to select all those people to another usergroups but its only a couple people here who has over 2500

actually, i like how we don't have faces right now, no offense but i never liked how the faces looked. the avatar looks so much better without the face hovering above it looking like it wants to crush it

Well we should have them back. Maybe you didn't like it, but it's something that's part of the site and I don't think we're gonna get rid of it just because of a couple of opinions against it when the entire site is filled up with the stuff :huh:

Since I had to create a new Usergroup for this, the user ranks were lost for those members with equal to or more than 2500 posts (plus date/reputation criteria). I'm not sure how I'm going to solve this problem because I can give everyone the normal 2500+ face, however, I think I would need to create a new Usergroup for each custom face. Maybe just a rank, or maybe I can use HTML in the user title to insert an image... I'm not entirely sure (if you haven't already noticed) but I'll experiement.

I'm going to check on the alleged -2,500 post users having the ability to use custom titles.

I didn't find any member in the new usergroup that did not have over 2,500 posts... If you could point out a user that has less than the required posts but has a custom title, I'll take a look.

That's what I thought happened. Although, the 2,500 face is hard to customize and custom faces usually start at 5k, not 2.5k.
PMing the GovAdmins might also be good, since they have at least 40+ members with those custom faces :D

Well, honestly I was wondering if moderators should be able to change their title or not, but I guess there's no harm in it since all moderators have green user names and a Mod face.
