Well today at school i had a really shit day!!!!

So after lunch i was really fed up, so during last leson (we were watching a film so i didnt miss work) i sat at the back and got my compass (the math thing not the one you use for tell north, south east and west) anyway what i did was start scrapping my arm with it, a few times it started to bleed by i carried on coz the pain was the best thing about my day. now i have a of red marks and cut all over my arm and a few have scabed over.

i was just wondering if this counted aas cutting/self harm?

It does count, anything you use to harm yourself in any way purposely, counts. Im sorry that your day was that bad that the pain was the best thing.
Cutting really isn't the best option though, it might seem like a good one it but it really isn't.
And im just warning you, if you do end up cutting again. DO NOT use a compas or something like that, you don't know where it's been and if you cut so far as to blead then there is much more of a likelihood that you will get infected. Clean and sterilise whatever you use before and after.
You can always talk to me if you feel that bad, i will answer asap and try and think about what youw would really be getting out of cutting anyway?

That wasn't the point i was trying to make but it's up to you i guess. Just remember to always clean it and the cuts (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showpost.php?p=255178&postcount=1) to help you.

Anything which you've done to yourself on purpose that causes self-harm, counts i'm afraid. Being in pain may be the best thing of your day as when you were there, but when you look back on it, will it be the best part then? I often look back on myself like that. Cutting's never the answer to anything, and once you started, it's real hard to stop. Blah blah blah, probably heard all this before, but it's truee, and everyone on here is always here for you. x

Take apart a razor refill with needlenose pliars. It works better than a compass. Rubbing alcohol, before and after.

I don't think you should be giving cutting tips unless it's to prevent infections. (Though the end of your post is fine ;])

Anyway, there has to be an alternative to cutting, because it's easy to get addicted to it just as much as a smoker and nicotine.

Yes. Any way of hurting yourself is considered self harm. Please don't start doing it on a regular basis tho...it's a highly addictive pain an it ruins your life.
Here if you want to talk
