Is there anything about your computer, such as a hardware problem or error, that really grinds your gears? Share em' here!
---
For me, Windows seems to like restarting my computer for an update while I am AFK, working on a big project.
On my Mac, the SMC failures that happen every time I restart it, gets super annoying after a while
What About yours?

I know it's silly, but on my new laptop (used to be my mom's)...the arrow keys are just so tiny and if I want to play any games that involve arrow keys...it's just so hard
if I had my old laptop, it would be the game lag. >:l

No computer can run Minecraft properly. Except the high-end models I guess. I can run everything under the sun on the piece of shit I own but the only thing that lags more than once an hour is Minecraft.

even though I won the battle against windows on my laptop Ubuntu likes to be somewhat glitchy with my hardware (Mousepad & Onn optical mouse, but 99.9% percent Mousepad glitches and 00.1 percent glitches with optical mouse. If I were still running 11.04 it would be the graphics and sound card crashes I'd experience whenever i'm doing something large in size or resource expensive on my laptop like say I would be running Portal 2 using the Wine Windows layer then while i'm about to finally activate the last laser target in one test room, My sound and video drivers would crash.

Charging cable on my laptop is all twisted and wavy for no reason (just my computer OCD acting up...) and it won't straighten out no matter what.
Easy way to solve it: Put enough cable under your laptop so that the "brick" of the charger is suspended in air(instead of on the ground). Leave it like that for a few days(or a week if you have tough cords) and it should be better.
...not that it's the end of the world if it doesn't work :P

Great thread!
I have one pet peeve with my lap top right now; the number keys:
*My 8 Key above my keyboard doesn't work, but the 8- key on my keypad always add's a stupid - for some reason...
*My 6 key above my keyboard doesn't work at all.
*My 9 key above the keyboard isn't functional at all, which means I can't use parentheses.
*The 1 key that is located on my keypad thinks that it's funtion is enter. So whenever I am writing a number sequence on a webpage form, and I hit the 1 key on my keypad, it enters the information.......

First off, I despise Macs. No right-click, no defined ALT key, and no Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Also the fact that they can't run .exe files, and that file navigation is a fucking nightmare. The scrolling is ridiculously sensitive and the little side-squeezy buttons will sometimes freak out for no reason.
As for PC's, I have a custom skin pack for XP SP3, and it always reverts to Windows Basic Default upon restart.
Silly BIOS enjoys restarting my computer every now and then >.<
This is usually due to an error in the BIOS configuration. Did you recently upgrade it at all, put in any new sound or video cards? If you did, did you remember to turn off onboard audio/video?
Get this looked into. If left too long it can corrupt your BIOS and render your PC inoperable.

You can compile Wine for MacOS.

I should upgrade my BIOS, which seems to be a risky operation. The configuration has worked for a long time.
It could also be my power supply, which has been getting really dodgy lately.

Unlikely. The BIOS is stored on a ROM(with the exception of the settings, of course), so there's nothing that can really be messed with.

There might be an option in Control Panel under the "Mouse" icon that should allow you to change the sensitivity of it. I had to increase mine when I got the laptop I currently have. It look like three full swipes for it to reach the other side of the screen lol.

Ever since my upgrade, I've pretty much faced no errors that have become annoying. One thing that comes and goes (which only lasts less than 5 seconds) is Firefox freezing when it initiates a download.

Typing a string of text über fast and looking up to see that my sluggish computer not only has only typed the first two letters, but also has managed to become "Not Responding". What, is my computer in a coma or something?

I hate when Firefox and Flash on the computers at my school prompt me to install updates when I can't. Why can't software detect when they're running under an account without administrative rights and hide the update prompts? Is it that hard to program that?
Ever since my school upgraded to the latest version of Mac OS X it takes about 5 minutes to log in and 5 more for all the programs I need to open. You'd think they wouldn't have enough money to upgrade Mac OS X, but they did and made it worse.
What really annoys me is my laptop's inability to wake up from sleep mode. If it goes to sleep when I close it, it won't wake up again when I open it. And if I try shutting it off and turning it on, it won't boot. I usually have to plug it in and leave it for an hour before it works again.
You can disable automatic updating in the control panel.
But then you'll have to install updates yourself. There's a registry edit which still lets Windows Update operate as it does, but lets you choose when to reboot. I wish I knew about that before I had a dozen DVDs turned into coasters because my computer rebooted while burning them.
This isn't really a computer based problem, but I HATE it when someone leaves the school computers dirty
You wouldn't want to see the computers at my school then. It looks like they need to be pressure washed.

You'd be amazed. It isn't as easy as just usergroup detection, unfortunately. You actually have to attempt to install these(thereby requesting user permission if you're not malware or bad software), so there really isn't much else than that popup that asks for permission.

I think it's the same everywhere. People eat at the computers, even though there are signs next to each one saying "No eating". But no teacher/person-in-power gives a fuck, so people do as they please.
