Have you ever been in a Car Accident?
What Happened?
Injuries?
How did you cope with it?
Been in 2:
1. T-Boned a pizza driver who pulled out in front of me in an intersection as I was going 50, totaled both cars, shattered my right wrist and cut up my left hand as it went through the windshield.
2. Friend flipped us over going 70 in his new truck driving like an idiot, had to have been a miracle came out with not even the slightest scratch.

Have you ever been in a Car Accident? I guess it was some sort of car accident
What Happened? Hit and Run
Injuries? It killed my best friend, i was untouched. Had i not stopped to tie up my laces its likely to have been me instead.
How did you cope with it? I didn't, still haven't.

I haven't, but my dad was hit while stationary at traffic lights by some idiot going at 80. The car flipped twice, hit a wall and half caved it but miraculously, he only broke a finger. The police said it was the biggest crash they had ever seen where no one had been killed.

I was at a stop light with my mom and I was drivng, this was a few days after I got my permit.
As I was at the stop light, I noticed that the "Check Guages" light came on which meant I was low on gas. Checked the gas gauge, and yup, the needle was a hairline above the empty line. So, I put the car into neutral, thinking that it saves gas while idling. Light turns green and I try switching it back into drive. Give it a little gas, doesn't move - which means it's still in neutral. Having the sense that the light is about to turn yellow then red, I hurry up more, with cars behind me, and I try getting it back into drive, I end up throwing it into reverse and I back into a damn Alero that is behind me. I FINALLY get the damn car in drive and I pull past the stop lights, into a empty parking lot, and so does the car I hit. I get out, dude gets out, we quickly talk, I tell him what happened, he didn't really care, I checked my rear bumper, he checked his front fender - no damage.
All that I got out of the thing was a sore back for like a day and a sore neck, nothing more, it's gone now. And my mom was fine.......needless to say, that was really damn embarrassing.................

Yeah, it was pretty embarrassing. The reason why I couldn't get it into gear was because...
A) The shift knob is between the driver and passenger seat
B) The lightbulb that illuminates the letters PRND12 on my car is burned out and I couldn't see anything - it was at night too haha

Wow. that's deep D:
Nothing much for me really, I was hit by a rolling plastic wheel cover that came off another car coming at me at 80km/h, and hit by an outdoor set umbrella (quite a heavy one) which left a hairline crack on my windscreen and rubbed some paint :3

Have you ever been in a Car Accident? two
What Happened? first one I was with my friend in his dually and he was going like 75 on the freeway and traffic stopped short - rear ended another truck in front of us. Dented my friends bumper. dont know about the other guy, it was a hit and run my friend which was a really stupid move by my friend but i didn't object cause i was scared at the same time. Second time i got rear ended in my truck. Quarter sized dent on my bumper, and the tow hitch was scratched. Other guys car? Totaled. Car was nearly under my back wheels. Tow ball went through the guys front grill and buried into the intake manifold
Injuries? I was good, the other guy hurt his wrist I believe.
How did you cope with it? Laughed my ass off after I confirmed pretty much no damage to my car. Didn't even bother to get the guy to fix the dent, I felt bad for him.

What? 5-car pile-up
Injuries: her pride: got license revoked
She's coping by using pub transport, I'm celebrating the fact that she can't drive anymore (it was a DUI and she's an absolutely atrocious driver)

Have you ever been in a Car Accident? Once and a half?
First time, dad was driving and we got rear-ended by a complete idiot who didn't know how to drive in the winter. We were both fine but the back lights didn't appreciate the accident much.
Second time was a near-miss. I was on my bike and had the right of way to turn in an intersection when this car just ignored my signal and kept going out of nowhere and would have prolly run me over if I didn't swerve out of the way at the last minute. I wasn't hurt but I ended up walking my bike on the sidewalk for a bit, I was so shaken up. Thank god I always wear a helmet 'cause that could have turned out much worse if I'd even fallen off my bike.
I had a harder time coping the second time because riding my bike on the road was already very difficult for me since I've been in a few biking accidents.

1: i was waiting for a bus at a bus stop and the mirror once clipped the back of my head and neck and i had a bruise there for ages
2:when i first ever drove i skidded and nearly flipped a van over but a bush stopped it going all the way over but i sprained my wrist broke my thumb and banged my head
3:worst one was quadbiking and i crashed into a bale of hay and it flipped and my leg got caught in the engine and was impaled with a part of the engine, i had a bad gash on my leg and caught infection from the impalement, very luckily no breaks

My grandpa rear-ended a Honda Odyssey with his 25 year old ford, no damage to our car but the Odyssey got a huge dent in the back bumper.
They don't make cars like they used to XD

My Mother and I where coming back from here meeting in an really heavy rainy day LAFD was pulling out of an gas station with their lights on and after we stopped an pick up truck hit us going at 60 mph. We were not harmed but the car that hit was completely destroyed and looked like it was an opened anchovies can.

That really isn't a sign of quality. Modern cars are designed to crumple upon impact, thus supposedly reducing the force upon those in the car.

Yes, it was very minor though
I was turning left and a car in the opposite lane stopped to let me go and the car behind them passed on the right, luckily I saw them coming and I slammed on the gas, if I hadn't my car would probably be totaled but instead just a few little scrapes.
No injuries

I'm going to school for criminal justice and we learned recently that flipped cars actually have decent survival rates as long as you wear your seatbelt.
Anyway...
1.I've hit a deer. No injuries. $3000 in damage to car. After that, I was so paranoid. Anything that shined a little at night I was hitting the breaks.
2. Cousin was driving on super ice roads. We were only going 35 and he tapped on his brakes because I deer was on the side of the road. He was just trying to slow down in case there were more. He was never in danger of hitting the deer. But him tapping the breaks send us into a spiral down the road before teatoring (sp) on the side of the road with a small creek below.
3. I had someone literally drive their truck into my car in a construction zone because they tried to get around me when the lane was closing. There was no way he had enough room/time to go around me. So he just drove his truck into me.
4. Had a girl drive right into the side of my car. I was driving at the end of the rows and she was pulling out of the rows. She was stopped and only looked one direction. Car was immobile after she hit me. She slammed on the gas so hard that she literally lifted my car off the ground at the point of impact.
basically...people suck.

So, I put the car into neutral, thinking that it saves gas while idling.
FYI: this does not save gas; when you shift into neutral your rpm's go up thus increasing your fuel usage. Its better to stay in drive.
glad it turned out ok.

Yup, exactly right, older cars can actually do more harm to their occupants as the g forces they experience will be greater because of the lack of crumple zones. Personally lol I would rather my car get totaled then me have severe back pain for the rest of my life and not be able to pursue the career of my choice.
I was rear ended last month in my 6 month old FJ Cruiser. I was stopped at a red light when a lady driving a Geo Tracker decided her cell was more important than driving. Thankfully my trailer hitch is built like a freaking tank and it and the door mounted spare tire absorbed most of the impact. Her car was very totaled and she got taken to the hospital for minor airbag injuries, my truck had to basically get the whole rear end replaced lol bumper, hitch, door, tire, and exhaust.

Huh, I never knew about the crumpling thing. That actually sounds pretty interesting. I shall save looking that up for a rainy Saturday morning.
