I think I've seen a thread like this before but I don't know if I did so I'mma post this thread :3
How old do you guys think is too old, I started thinking about it when my friend, 17, had a hook up with a guy who is 24. He said it was cause he's hot, so whatever. But I'm just confused about all this shizz.

The rule of thumb is double your age minus 5 years. I prefer half my age minus 3 hehe.

Under 16, the max should be dating someone who is 17, or however old your parents view as acceptable.
16 & 17, the max can rise to 18 or 19 or same as above.
Over 18, it's your business.
Of course, this is just my opinion. I'm sure many would disagree, but I don't give a fuck, yo.

As an adult, they've gotta be younger than both your parents. Lol. XD General rule isn't bad, should be adjusted if your parents had you later in life of course. In no way is this my advice but the outer limit of my morals. Not that I've even had to put this guideline into action.
Anyway. As a teenager, depends on your maturity mostly. Different people can get away with dating people of different ages. I've always dated older, but I've only ever been interested in one person who was in the same year as me. :P
I can see an older 15 and an 18, but I can't really see a 13 year-old dating anyone older than 15. As you get older, the age difference becomes smaller. When you're younger, a smaller age difference seems bigger. And I can't help but question the motivation of both parties when the age difference is controversial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXElU2k7OkY) like that. You should think about it long and hard. Why does someone that age want to date you? That's probably most important. But why do you want to date them should also be taken into account. If the answers are "hot" and/or "want someone mature" you need to rethink it.
You're from two different worlds, especially when you're a teenager dating someone who's above eighteen. The only way that ever works is when you're exceptionally mature and independent. Otherwise I wouldn't even give it six months before you notice how little you have in common and end it. Opposites attract but you definitely need a balance. When they're too different, it drives you... crazy.

Depends on the age, when your older like 25+ livin on your own, have a career, then it's your call, but there are things that are a tad far like 27 and 63, that's just insane.
In school for teens though, it shouldn't really be much more than 1-2 years difference. I can't stand seeing like 20year olds date like freshman in HS, that's just disturbing.

I think it doesn't matter, love can strike anyone and as long as both members of the relationship are ok with it and respect one another intelectually etc., it's fine.
Of course, I am saying that having dated a much older man, so I'm biased.

my mom was 15 when she had me and my dad was 20...they were married for almost 9 years or so when they split up...it wasnt because of the age difference but other things.. I'm15 dating a guy in his low 20s...we enjoy each other's company and he treats me right and my mom is very much ok with him. He treats me right makes me happy ...so why should it matter?

Socialy acceptable I heard was your age divided by 2 added by 8
So for me: 18/2 = 9 + 8 = 17 lol

I don't think it really matters about the age difference

My bf is 24 so thats 9 yrs oder than me and I don't consider him too old. I think girls mature faster than guys . Most of the guys in my school are immature

With a minor who is 16 the law is that its a max of 5 years older. (At Least in Canada)
Younger than 16 I'm not sure as it does not apply to me xD

If not a legal/age of consent issue I have been told to follow this rule to determine if people are in a dodgy age difference relationship:
Take the oldest person in the relationship/potential relationship and divide it by 2 and then add 7 - if the youngest persons age is equal to that or greater then it's not dodgy - but if the younger persons age is lower than that then it's dodgy

I personally think that if there is an age difference where you were able to be in high school together, theres no problem.

I normally say age doesnt matter, but yeah it doesnt but does. Like a 13 year old dating a 17 year old... kinda weird. But if its like 2 or 3 years and its like not 12 and 14 year old or some weird combo like its really just fine! Im 16, my girlfriend is 14 and theres nothing wrong with that :)

I guess it's individual. And acceptable as long as it's willingly.

Well, I think the age gap is not that bad. I mean, 7 years, that's not too much. Your friend is underage, so this could be a bit ... inappropriate, but, I mean, he's 17, I assume he'll be 18 in a few months, so I don't think that's the problem.
About age gaps in relationships overall, here's what I think: when someone is 10 years older than his partner, that's a bit weird. If he's less than 10 years older, the relationship seems normal to me, as long as no one is underage.

I try to stick a 3 year gap im 17 so 14-20 yes i see some people with older people but there are some legal issues with someone under 16 dating someone over 21 that could come into play....
