I already have a 1996 Tahoe that is my car but when I get my licence my dad is going to get me a newer car. Here are a couple of my picks.

2006 Pontiac GTO standard-$13,900

2003 GMC duramax 4x4 ext. cab-$12,500

2001 Trans Am WS6 auto-$8,000

2008 Silverado 1/2 ton crew cab 4x4 (rebuilt)-$12,000

2006 Dodge Charger R/T AWD-$14,600

And I have to pay $5,000 of it.

If I had too I'd take the GTO or Charger, but personally I don't like any of these cars so my opinion doesn't matter.

How about you tell us what you want to do with a car?
Do you want to 4x4, get in the street scene, or just drive?

The end decision is yours. I don't see how a forum can help you decide.
If you are asking because you have little knowledge on cars and what to know a thing or two about the car, tell us what you want to know.

None :)

I bought a 2001 ford explorer for 1700 dollars.
it was in a small wreck and messed up the bumper alittle no biggie. Slap a new one on there and away we go.
Started to notice a clunking in the rear-end. So I bought a new rear-end and re installed it myself. While I was at it I had the transmission rebuilt.
Brand new tires, new brakes, new ball joints. The whole works.
Now I have a 4000 dollar car that I KNOW what kind of mechanical conditions its in.
It has the 4.0 engine and they are strong little engines so I never rebuilt it. Next thing is going to be the starter, and new water pump and fuel pump, and to top it off a new paint job. After all is said and done I will have a brand new car.

Take a look at some Subarus. We've got a '99 Forester GT (I Think its "S" in America) and its great. Has a detuned WRX engine in it. If you can find one with the Luxury Pack it will have Heated Leather Seats and a kick-ass Sunroof. Personally I dont like American Cars. Yeah, they look cool and tough, but use more fuel than the Space Shuttle and look out if you find a corner in your travels!! :P
But If you really must go for one of them, I would either go for the GTO (Because it is an Australian Holden Monaro) or the Charger. But have a look at some other things than American Vehicles would be my advice.

Cheers

American cars actually handle a lot better nowadays. Also a lot of injection systems such as Ford's Ecoboost are great technology.
Shame the Mustang and Camaro are rubbish cars, live axle rear ends and such.
In America cars as the Subaru aren't as common as here in Aus.
Being an import, parts are rare and can be expensive compared to a modern car.

Also, if I were in the US and didn't have a KW or cylinder/injection limit, I personally most definitely wouldn't mess around with a 6 cylinder or 4 cylinder turbo :)

Don't really have any of those cars over here so had to google a couple of them lol.

Think I'd have the charger from that list personally though.

Dont have experience being in any of the cars, but in my opinion i would take the 2006 Dodge Charger R/T AWD

It come with a V8, and the stock model has 340 horse power, dont know how much it would of lost over time but Still thats nice, oh and not to mention it has looks to kill for

I'd personally get the charger. I've always liked them.

Well the GTO has 400 hp stock and is way lighter than the Charger. Not to mention that is has IRS which is a big plus for cornering. But the Charger is AWD, so... And I've always been a GM guy.

I would take the Charger in my opinion, but insurance may be a bit high on that one.
