So my dad had a heart attack 1 year ago. It really "crippled" our family. We've been on alert ever since that day. And I'm wondering, what should I do in case of a heart attack? Of course call for help, but other than that what should I do? My dad is having chest pains and won't go to the doctor cause we don't have the money right now, we're going into a little money loss phase. So what should I do in case he has one?

Get aspirin, it thins the blood and helps it to flow better around the body. Obviously call an ambulance or have someone call one for you. Theres not a lot you yourself can do but yeah. Theres also CPR if the heart actually stops. It says you're living in England, you don't need money to get seen by a GP or go to the hospital, its better you get him there as quick as possible. When it comes to chest pains after a heart attack you can't take any risks. I had one a few years ago and you really can't be too careful.

Ontop of the post above thought i would add to try put them into a "half sitting-position"

Back against a flat wall, knees bent towards the ceiling and feet flat on the floor.

Alright bud, here is what you need to do:
Call 911 immediately!!!!
Have your father sit in a comfortable position
Chew or swallow an aspirin or nitroglycerine

write down everything you do, including the time you did it

Here (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/first-aid-heart-attack/FA00050) is a great article for you to read

What he said - Any Chest Pain or shortness of breath is a medical emergency.

That link is gold has all the information you need.

Just a warning for people reading - Aspirin is great for suspected heart attacks, but do not give it to someone if they are allergic or are currently on blood thinners such as Aspirin etc. If they have a diagnosed heart condition help them take there medication, it could be a tablet under the tongue or a spray under the tongue. But ALWAYS call 911/999/000 if any chest pain. EMS will respond and if they are not needed then they can leave, but the longer you wait the less chance for the outcome for the person.

Why did you have a heart attack?

Because I did a lot of stupid things and my heart pretty much gave out.
