View Full Version : Is it gay if it's on the cheek?

Today was the last day of school and so there were tons and tons of hugs. Out of three guys I hugged today I kissed 3 on the cheek, and another because he was sitting in Spanish because another guy kissed him and dared me to. I noticed that they all didn't really mind though one was surprised.

Anyway the point of this thread is, do you think that people are relaxing about affection between two people of the same sex?

Yes
Homosexuality isn't as taboo as it was in the 20th century!

But people still call you fags for small reasons. What I do is claim to not be and then do things nobody else does in the school. ^.^

In my experience homophobia isn't so much a problem now, but heterophobia and biphobia is getting worse.

I get frowned on and have some nasty remarks thrown at me by gays & lesbians when I go out with a guy. When I am with a girl then everything is fine. I'm only acceptable to them if I am in a same sex relationship, otherwise I'm lower than crap on their shoe.
And quite a few of the gays I know are so caught up in "being gay" that they actually treat straights like shit. They freeze them out, manipulate people against them and are down right bitchy for no reason.

It's not everyone, it is just becoming more of an issue nowadays.

I would be surprised to see kissing between straight guys. I don't think it makes you gay though; it's just that it's not common in America. I think people are relaxing because it really isn't an issue to hug another guy or tell them you love them.

It's not major in Ireland eithe rbut it's getting there. Europe though is really relaxed towards it. Especially Holland.

Interesting, I've never heard the idea of "heterophobia." There is one gay guy in my school, though, who isn't very trusting of other guys at all. But I don't blame him, people make dumb cracks about him behind his back all the time.

Guys hugging is definitely not an issue at my school. While there are only two "out" males in my school I always see two dudes hugging.

Mmhmm, I'd imagine it to be more lax in Europe. I want to visit Europe. =[

That is so true. Like I know people who will not go out with a bi person, because they are bi and think that will suddenly go off them cause they are bi. Its a weird world we are living in.

Yeah. :( But here in london, any same sex couples are frowned on by a lot of people, especially if they have PDA's in public.. or if they are seen by people with small kids with them. they think they'll influence them. I know, because I've had it explained to me forcefully at least twice. Isn't it fun?

What society needs is a mass public gay make out.

That immature kid would be me. I can say some rude things right now but I won't... because that would be immature.

No matter how it might have seemed to you I didn't mean to make a big deal out of it. I wasn't saying "Omg i liek kissed a boi but olny on teh cheek am i gay or str8??!??!!?!?!?!" What I wanted this thread to be about was a discussion on how people tend to react to that certain degree of affection- if society is uptight and disapproving of it or only if some people are. It was meant to spark discussion, not just me having a melt down.

And no, the United States is still uptight about homosexuality. You always get people calling others "fags", calling everything "gay" in place of the word "stupid".. like being gay isn't simply natural, it's like a retardation of some sort. And if the United States were relaxed about homosexuality then I would be allow to marry anyone I wanted when I turned 18 without leaving my home state.

Didnt mean to offend I thought some1 made a big deal of it just for attention. Not knowing it was u. I am suprised that even in the united states the most gay friendly union in the world still has people getting away with things like that ok its always going to be there but i thought most people would shout them down. In Scotland gay people arnt even concidered as human beings they are descrimanated in clubs, jobs, and even just going to the pub so scotland is not the place t come out in. In saying that not every1 reacts like that just the ones with the loudest voices.

Same thing in America. When people get their jobs and priveleges turned away, though, they don't say it's because they're gay. They think of another "reason" to fire them or whatever.

No, if I wanted attention I'd be posting in Puberty 101 saying a beetle crawled out of my penis (winks at Hyper)

We have come a long way to get to this point - it was only a hundred years ago and homosexuality was classed as a mental illness - but we still have a long way to go. It takes a long time as its certain attitudes that have to be altered.
If we could somehow promote the equality of everyone - regardless of sexual orientation - then all gays, straights and bis will be able to live in harmony with one another.
