I know this debate comes up a lot every know and again (forgive me if there is one recent) but I was wondering what call of duty title do you guys think is the best and why?

My personal opinon is that call of duty world at war was the best COD of the series, this is due to the feel of that game. The perks were simple, the weapons could not be hip fired from 25 feet away and still kill, and overall its just a better COD than the rest, dont get me wrong MW3,2 and black ops were okay call of duty games but I still feel this COD has got to be one of the best out there. I think its a shame that hackers have taken over it now and thats why I cant play it....

Anyway your thoughts on this?

Black Ops. Next question

Black Ops, Its the most balanced and has no obvious faults like the rest. sure the 74u is clearly the best smg but there will allways be a best gun. Second Chance is annoying as hell but atleast you get the kill for putting them into it. Black Ops rewards skilled players the most in comparison to others. WaW was also really good and allthough for the time it was amazing it isnt anymore. i just think Black Ops is the best CoD will ever be as now all they try and do is cater to people in negative KD's which is annoyingly the majority. they make the game too "noob friendly" to try and encourage more players but i think it just puts off existing players.
P.S anyone who says MW2 or MW3 is an idiot :P and generally a "quick scoping" buffoon with an IQ of >80. rant over xD

I started off with MW2 then BO. Didn't like either. Finally got around to COD4 on the PC and love it. BF3 FOREVER though :)

Call Of Duty 4: I never really got a chance to thoroughly play through it, however what i did acquire was that everything was fair, everyone had the same kill-streaks, guns, attachments so it really was a matter of skill.

Call Of Duty World At War: Hm Somethin a bit different, wait what? Beat campaign you get zomb- OMFGGGG! Anyway seriously now WaW was one of the best because it was different, you actually got something for prestieging and everyones favorite...ZOMBIES anyway enough of the epic zombies and more about online. The maps were great and so were the spawns, the thing I hated though were that you could use killstreaks to get kill streaks

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Oh dear...LET THE QUICK SCOPERS RULE THE GAME! The game was great disregard Commando and how epic the models were at the beginning. The community was a bit over the top and the hackers flooded it like no bodies buisness.

Call Of Duty Black Ops: Zombies, played all of them except Shangri-La great storyline and memorable quotes. As for online I wish I could say the same, the sound was awful and the graphics were meh. The guns were a bit unbalanced and for some odd reason I think Suppressor allowed MORE bullet penetration then less. They sort of took out quick scoping which was sad but cool at the same time.

Call Of Duty Black Ops: For some reason I refuse to get it...

[I measure the sound through my turtle beaches x31's, which were one of the best back then I plan on getting better ones soon.]

Wow...my fastest off the top of my head review of the COD games.

I'll always love CoD4 the most, as it was my first Call of Duty that I played more than once.

CoD4 or WaW. Either way, they all piss me off and result in me turning off my xbox mid game.

they are all good games but MW3 is thebest. COD4 and MW2 were awesome too but i think black ops wasnt as good. world at war was cool just because it was a period game.
but i go with MW3 for sure

Let's analyse a bit:

Call of Duty 1: Pioneer
Call of Duty 2: Revolution. the graphics were skyrocket compared to other games, still has one of the best scenarios
Call of Duty 3: Change. With Treyarch, Call of Duty became something new. With jeep driving, rowing, interactive fights with enemies and interactive bomb arming, it included many fighting fronts in it for a wider gameplay.
Call of Duty 4: "All Ghillied Up" Do I need to say more?
Call of Duty 5: Banzai. Treyarch took the fighting into the Pacific, something which was never tried before ( excluding MoH ). Treyarch introduced us bloody gore, grim and realistic fighting and Viktor Reznov. As always, Treyarch wanted to give something new to the players and added the zombies.
Call of Duty 6: Soap and Price. Infinity Ward turned Call of Duty into a more arcade game and added a deeper scenario with character backgrounds for players to merge themselves with the game and it's elements
Call of Duty 7: Brink. Zombie modes were pushed a lot harder, characters were pushed a lot harder, players were pushed a lot harder and the scenario sucked the players in it as Treyarch created a game full of secrets.
Call of Duty 8: Mop up. Infinity Ward, realising that only 12 year old players were left to see Soap and Price in every single CoD game, decided to end the story with a world war and an epic final stand ending.

The decision is yours.

Now, my personal opinions:
Call of Duty 4 was simply jaw-dropping for me. I still play All Ghillied Up and One Shot, One Kill. There are very few memorable missions for me among all the games I own, and these two are among them.
Call of Duty: World at War was also very good for me because it had an epic soundtrack, it had epic Russians, it had epic Banzai charges and it had an epic Reznov.

2 and 4 are great, but I think the story behind MW2 is pretty decent. Other than that, I don't really find any CoD game to be beyond any expectations set for it.

I've played all of the Call of Duty games and out of the older games (by old I mean prior to 2006) my favourite is Call of Duty 3, simply because I had the most fun on it compared to the other older games.

In 2007 CoD 4 was released, in my opinion it is the best installment into the Call of Duty series and the Modern Warfare series, I LOVE
THAT GAME!

From best to worst, this is my opinion:
CoD: Modern Warfare, CoD: Modern Warfare 3, CoD: Black Ops, CoD: World at War, CoD: Modern Warfare 2. (all of these games were released after 2006).

Here are my reasons of why I like these games and why I don't like them! (I copied this from my reply to a similar thread).

Basically I think CoD: MW (A.K.A CoD 4) is the best CoD so far because it is an all around great game the multiplayer (online) is superb and the campaign was a little predictable but was not boring and I liked some of the stealthier missions in it which is what I think all of the other games in the Call of Duty series have lacked. The mission where you are playing as Captain Price (who was a Luitenant back then) and you are sneaking around in Pripyat, Ukraine with Price's partner Captain McMillan is and always will be my favourite mission on any Call of Duty Campaign. I LOVE that mission. The objective is to sneak through Pripyat undetected using stealth (Ghillie suits and suppressed snipers) assassinate Imran Zakhaev and escape. The other Call of Duty games in the series lacked a good stealthy mission like this one. I loved all of the guns in the CoD 4 multiplayer as well as the perks and I also loved the pre-set and unchangeable killstreaks (UAV, Airstrike and Attack Chopper), I loved these three killstreaks as they were simple and fairly easy to earn if you are a good/experienced player and also it made the game very fair since everyone has the same killstreaks. The playable maps in the CoD 4 multiplayer were awesome maps and they should really bring them all back in a new massive map pack for MW3, that would be sweet as.

I like CoD: MW3 since the red dot sights on guns are very similar to the CoD 4 ones and the guns available in multiplayer are awesome guns. The perks are pretty awesome, I also like the wide variety of point streaks (killstreaks). I love the Support point streaks as well as the Sssault ones but the Specialist ones are my favourite because they level you up so fast. The maps on MW3 are awesome but I am not really a big fan of this Call of Duty ELITE crap.. I have it since I pre-ordered the hardened edition of the game and I didn't even bother activating it, it seems stupid and I am really a fan of simple gaming.. no strategies and no help from other technology... I play the game as I go.. I don't have planned routes or paths to follow in the multiplayer and I still get awesome scores. The campaign in MW3 was pretty cool, I really enjoyed it, it wasn't that predictable but MW3 kind of reminds me of CoD 4 (in terms of the graphics and the campaign) but it seems like a new and upgraded version of CoD 4. I am glad they brought a similar thing to the MW2 "Nuke" back to MW3, it is called a M.O.A.B and it isn't an assignable killstreak it is just always there.. you get one at 25 kills just like the Nuke and it does NOT end the game like a Nuke did on MW2. The Mother of All Bombs killstreak (M.O.A.B) will just blow everyone on the enemy team up (as well as the person who called in the M.O.A.B) and after the M.O.A.B has been detonated the team who got the M.O.A.B get's double xp for the rest of the match! I LOVE IT!

I loved Black Ops as well... Zombies was sooooooo fun on Black Ops, Zombies on Black Ops was more mysterious and fun to play than on CoD: WaW, but I still liked WaW Zombies. Black Ops campaign was different but in a good way since you are kind of playing missions that Mason had done and you play them as he is questioned about them by his unknown capturers (at the end you find out who they are). The missions were all fun and pretty awesome especially the one when you are in Vietnam I think it is and you have to go through the rat tunnels, it was fun. The multiplayer was good all around and the guns were pretty awesome, as were the perks. The playlists had the same boring gametypes so I wasn't that impressed but the killstreaks were something new (RC-XD car was fun as!). Theatre Mode was introduced in this game and I thought it was awesome, I had so many great clips in my File Share (now known as "Vault" on MW3). I really enjoyed playing Black Ops all together.

I liked CoD: WaW because of Zombies mostly, I started playing Zombies in WaW and when Black Ops came out I was so excited to see that Treyarch put Zombies into it and I was so excited and they definitely didn't disapoint me at all by doing so. The guns in multiplayer on WaW I didn't really like, but they were ok, again I loved the preset killstreaks. The maps for multiplayer I didn't like as much as the other games they were kind of boring imo. The campaign on WaW was pretty boring since it was about WWII and wasn't really realistic and didn't follow many real life events of WWII and the events it did follow were the boring ones but still it was okay even though it was a kind of predictable campaign.

My feelings about CoD: MW2 can be expressed with only two words, WORST GAME. I hated everything about it.. the campaign was so predictable and was pretty stupid imo, the only part of the campaign I liked was the last mission I think.. when you chuck a knife into Shepherd's eye/face, the fight scene between Shepherd and Price is epic but isn't as epic as the interactive fight scene between Price and Makarov in MW3, now that was epic and shat all over the fight scene in MW2. The multiplayer really was a big let down, I expected it to be awesome except it was far from awesome... the ability to replenish Claymores and C4s with Scavenger was ridiculous and pissed me off so much because it promoted camping. I hated all of the noob tubers and try hard zzirGrizz quickscopers online, the Intervention was a crap sniper rifle and I wish they had have brought back the M40A3 from CoD 4. I hated the killstreaks on MW2, the Nuke in the MW2 multiplayer was so annoying.. you could be going so good in a game and be on your way to getting like your 2nd or 3rd AC-130 killstreak then all of a sudden some dog on the other team gets a Nuke and calls it in and the game ends prematurely, now that would REALLY piss me off. The maps were crap except the ones that they brought back from CoD 4.

Personally I find World at War to be the best, had the best story line which I loved. It was also the first one I played. I also love the World War II era alot which is probably why I loved this one
