I think it is wrong and violates their rights. I mean would a human want to get his balls cut off or her pussy tied without a say? It's mean.

Their is a difference, an animal has no say in the matter.

Sure. If conditions are such that you keep a potential powerful pet i.e. certain dog breeds like Pit Bulls, Mastiffs, Rottweilers, Dobermann etc. who can show aggressive behaviour if not neutered and don't have a female to fulfil their sexual needs then yes, I don't see why you wouldn't neuter your pet.

People who argue that it's unnatural, just like docking a tail make me think, most if not all of the present dogs breeds are unnatural. I mean these dogs were systematically bred to possess characteristics that benefited us most. For instance, the Labrador and Newfoundland were bred to be excellent swimmers, thus handy for fishermen. Rottweilers were bred to be tough and guard flocks of sheep from larger predators. Bulldogs were bred to bring down bulls. The list goes on. If the premise of the existence of these dogs is that they're here to benefit us emotionally or task-wise then I don't see why people make a huge fuss out of neutering them. If I'm going to be convinced otherwise there needs to be a more compelling argument than 'it's mean'.

It's also apparently mean to use the dog whisperer's techniques on a dog, where the do you draw the line between what's mean and actually just benefiting the human?

Neutering is the best option. Not only does it prevent unwanted litters being born and dumped but it does provide pluses to the animals health overall however it does mean they gain weight a lot quicker. Some may argue its unnatural and to an extent I agree, but when it comes to whats happening now where puppies/kittens/etc are being born and then dumped in shelters and things it gets to the stage where something needs to stop. Training as a veterinarian i see things like this all the time and its so unnecessary and could be avoided.

I see no reason with not neutering your animal as long as you actually want them to breed and you'd be finding sensible homes for them and things, or if its for pure breeding purposes but with how things are ending now I'd rather have all my animals neutered.

I have not nor do I plan on having my male Pitt neutered. Hes a beautiful dog and very good natured plus has the rare color Blue in his blood line.

I have had both of my female pitts spayed. So, like yeah no more puppies and he has 2 bitches to take care of his needs.

I think it is cruel to neuter a pet, and personally even to keep a pet, although my brother has a (neutered) dog.
Taking away an animal's ability to reproduce is fucking with nature in the worst possible way, and kind of sickens me.

Hmmm preventing over population of the animal numbers and stopping possible starvation of the animal, or letting them have the right to fuck..?

I think Rawal and Aaron summed it up really well. But I especially liked what Rawal said about the "natural" aspect. Almost all, well I believe all, breeds of dogs happened through select breeding(which a lot of cats, parakeets, and betta fish are too). Which can be achieved by culling, and I'm not a very big fan of that. But the point none the less is some animals need to be neutered and spayed for their own good, not so we can display power over them or so we can be "mean". And be it's not natural, if you haven't looked around not many things are.
