I am a 9th grader and i play a lot of lacrosse. i play 2.5 hours ever day during the week and 6 hours ever weekend. we do a lot a running, speed and long distance, and do a lot of work in the weight room. recently im getting a really sharp pain in my groin. Specifically its right on the inside of where my leg meets my crotch. I feel around that area for bruising and compare it to the other side but everything feels normal. i cant really take a day off because we are in season and i risk getting bumped to JV if i miss a day for something not too serious. Also, i have played through a broken hand, fingers, and even a fractured foot, I know pain. this leg pain is really bad and when ever i move my leg, even when im in my bed, i get a sharp pain. Even laying down and couching hurts my leg! i dont want to ask my coaches or trainer just yet because i dont want to be called "soft" or whatever, im not a big complainer.
stretches like deep lounges and butterfly help sooth the pain a bit, but not very much.

What did i sprain? and what should i do??
help!!

Bud I'm a sports trainer, and I can tell you if your trainer calls you soft for that then he shouldn't be in that position. Yes to me from what you have said it sounds like a soft tissue injury. Treatment would be icing it as much as possible and; yes you don't want to hear this however - Take a rest. If you continue to play - it can do serious, very serious damage, and could result in months on the bench. It sounds like a groin injury to me, and would suggest treatment by the trainer or a physiotherapist.

Need any further information just ask :)

If you pick up any serious injuries-please please learn from my mistakes an jus rest! I used to do endurance marching, an I ended up with a ruptured tendon, snapped ligaments, torn muscle an two sprains, all in one leg. I completed the next 30kms on these injuries, limped over the finish line an collapsed before being taken to the Medi-centre, followed by A&E. I was advised to rest for six weeks..but instead, I completed a week's arduous survival and leadership course, then 4 weeks later I completed my silver Duke of Edinburgh's award qualifying expedition. Gritted my teeth, completed the lot.....an am now in constant pain. This was three years ago... Seriously, rest!! SS..X
