So, it's nearly that time of year again, self injury awareness day is only a few weeks away, and every year I say i'm going to do something to raise awareness but I never do, but this year i'm determined! I want to start thinking of ideas and stuff now so when it comes to it I know what i'm doing, so if anyone has any ideas on how to raise awareness they would be greatly appriciated! :yes:

1)draw a butterfly on your wrist
2) make some flyers, to put aroud your school
3) talk to some of the people in your school that just might need a friend
4) find a purple shirt, it would be in rememberence of the teens that commited sucide, because of LGBT bullying

Thanks :) I've already spoken to my tutor about doing a session on self injury on the 29th (We're not in on the 1st) but she wants me to try and come up with a lesson plan etc :O

Posters? Case studies? statistics?

I think you just have to get the message across that its a way of coping, just like people turn to alcohol or drugs, that it's not about attention seeking and it doesn't mean someone is going to kill themselves.

Thanks hun :) My tutor's working on it with me so hopefully we'll be able to come up with something decent, i'm just a little worried about trying to get a classful of 16-19 year olds about self harm O.o

Write graffiti on the bathroom stalls about SH- stats, etc. Or stick index cards with the info on with blu-tac, and pass out orange ribbons.
That's what I'm doing.

I'm not gay and i cut myself. But then again, i am very disappointing with failure, and with my inability to protect people i trust. And that's not alot of people, i can count them using one hand.
