Boxers are good but don't give your genitals any support... I would go with briefs and buy them the next size up to the underwear you find too tight. Also as BigG said you can try going commando sometimes (wearing no underwear whatsoever).

it sometimes helps to "change gear" and shift your dick to the side so that its against your body and not sticking straight out. Then at least it doesn't stretch the underwear as much. Otherwise, bigger size.

if you wear briefs try boxer-briefs, if you wear boxer-briefs try boxers, if you wear boxers then I try a larger size.
I know if I wear anything more constraining than boxers its so annoying to have a boner that I might as well just go commando.

Different brands feel more comfortable than others I find. Sometimes it not just the size, its how theyre shaped to support you. Being hard with your pants on is pretty awkward anyway!

Wear something looser if you have. I know it's annoying. I had that for like almost a hundred times.
