Ugh, I hate my period. Last night, I woke up at 12.00 and felt like I was PEEING. Bloody mess everywhere, cat got messy too (she sleeps in my bed). I had my favorite sheets on, my period was super early so I hadn't changed them yet. I ruined my favorite nightdress, a pair of underwear, my carpet got messed up just running to the loo and I had to scrub the bathroom floor after I finally managed to find a tampon in the dark. Of course, I had to wake up my mum. I am so glad that she helped me or I would have been sleeping in a mess of blood. She's the most awesome, sensible person ever and didn't even complain. While I was in a state of shock, she cleaned the carpet. Meanwhile, my silly cat, who is my best friend in the world btw (shes named Smeagol) knocked over a jug of water mum was trying to flush the blood out of the carpet with. Even more mess. Finally, at 2.00 am, we both crawled to bed. Every 20 min all night I had to change my super plus tampon, and I got 0 sleep. Not to mention that I have a horrible head cold and it was hard to breathe. YIKES! So I am staying home from school today. I can't wait to go on birth control, mum says I'd better because we don't want to go through this again. What can I do in the meantime to minimize accidents?

Wow that sucks. My crappiest period was just me being really friken grumpy and not giving a shit about anything and just being really tired and lazy i just wanted to stay home and sleep it seemed like everyone was messing with me but it was just me and i ran out of pads at school so i had to use the crappy toilet paper at school cuz im too shy to go to the office and ask for one :P

Ouch! That sounds like a horrific night:( Offhand I guess you'll just have to fight thru it but once you get birth control it should make it waaay more manageable. Good luck!:D

You do need something from your doc, because it's not fair that anyone should have to put up with this, I do feel sorry for you :(! Big hugs! In the meantime, jus wear night-time pads combined with super plus tampons, an wear dark coloured clothes. SS..x

You should do is keep a towel or something thick to keep under you so it wont get on the sheets. It's not good to wear tampons at night, you shouldn't keep them in over 4 hours really, especially with a heavy period, higher risk of getting TSS even though it's very rare just be careful. Wear night time pads, maybe 2 if you need them. Keep pads next to you or somewhere you can easily get to them.
Im sorry but i go through the same thing, at least you had your mum, its not fun at 2am getting it out the carpet by yourself -_- so i know how you're feeling. You just have to be careful and change them as regulary as you can.

I also have a heavy flow (wearing a tampon and pad at the same time). I went to my doctor and told her, thinking I would actually have to get on birth control because of the pain and heaviness, because I couldn't stand it.
She had me go for a bloodtest and a couple hours later they called and told me I have an iron holding deficiency in my blood. This was the reason my period was so heavy. It can also affect your weakness, and can cause fatigue. It can also cause lightheadedness and dizzyness.
I'm now on iron supplement pills twice a day and have to go get blood work done again in four months.
I would definitely get it checked out. :)
