I am a junior in high school and I am having a very hard time forming a plan for the future...
At first, I was sold on pharmacy. Pharmacists make great money and college isn't that long. The problem is, pharmacy isn't my dream job and I know I won't be happy for the rest of my life being a pharmacist. Although money is important, it isn't everything. I have to be happy doing something that defines the rest of my life...
My absolute dream job is to become a successful actor. I am very involved with my schools drama department and I love everything about acting. I have had one lead role and many supporting roles mixed with a few ensemble roles. I am aware that making it as an actor is incredibly hard and many people share this dream.
At first, I thought it was just a dream and it would go away... but it hasn't. It's all I think about and I desperately want to pursue it, but I am deathly afraid of utterly failing and working at McDonald's for the rest of my life....
Please, give me some insight. Should I go through with it? Should I give up on it? Help me :(

Hey, you know what, a job is only what you make of it. I want to be a Pediatric ER Physician, I want to help children but I have a huge flare for the theatrics, I am not becoming a actor.
You need to do what feels right to you, don't be in it for the money, that is wrong....

Lucky for you you have loads of time. I'd say get into something you'd like to do, even though it's not your dream. Choose something you'd be comfortable with, interested in and will sustain you. You'll need to be able to dedicate yourself to it too. While doing that, you should keep acting. Keep being involved in productions and take up as many oppertunities as you can. If it works out then awesome, but you'll still have your job for as long as it takes for you to either get somewhere with acting, or lose interest in it(not saying you will).
If you keep chasing after your dream you hopefully will get somewhere. But you might find another interest. While acting you might find something else that you love and are successful in, and hopefully might be able to live without being a successful actor. I'm just saying this because it's so hard to get into the acting world. But I hope you do! Best of luck :)
Ps. I've always wanted to be an actor too, but I'm not in a group at the moment. I used to be. I let go of the dream because I thought I was being unrealistic, but as I was forced to think about careers all I could think about was being an actor. I realized that when I turned my back on my dream I also made it impossible for myself to think about the future. I plan on getting into a group when I'm in college and I'm going to do my best at it. The only reason I can bear to think about going to college and moving on with my life is because I'm incorporating acting into it. So basically the advice I gave you is the advice I gave myself :P
