Anyone who thinks the Confederate flag stood for slavery is an idiot.

Its not rascist. But i mean come on.. now a days if someone has a confederate flag hanging up.. U know their rascist. An if anyone tries to counter with something with big drawn out words, that in turn still is wrong.. Their just trying to start something.

Wait wait wait...so the flag itself isn't racist, but anyone who has the Confederate flag IS a racist? Contradictions EVERYWHERE here. The Confederate flag is a symbol of Southern pride. It's not about slavery or rebellion or any of that; it's about having pride in your heritage. I find that silly, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

I don't think that the flag itself is racist, it's just a symbol of southern pride and the confederacy stood for a lot of things, not just racism.
The whole thing is rediculous anyway since the north was racist too, only to a lesser extent.

Coming from a Georgian, the confederate flag has nothing to do with slavery. It was simply the flag that was used to represent the Confederacy in the civil war.

The flag has zero connection to slavery. Yes, the south did support slavery, but that does not automatically mean that the flag itself is racist. Saying it is is just as ignorant as saying the flag of the Italians represents dictatorship, or the German flag Hitler. The southern people are NOT racist for sporting the flags on vehicles, homes, etc. They are just supporting their section of the U.S. The southern flag is just a recognizable way to say that you are from the south. Everyone can recognize that flag.

After reading the comments and seeing the sense it makes it depends on context. If it's for southern pride then sure go ahead. It is apart of their history and culture. But if people are using it as a symbol for hate, then I have a problem.

Many times, perfectly unoffensive symbols are turned inside out by ignorant people who use it for themselves. The swastika was an old Hindu and Greek symbol (you can still see swastikas painted over front doors in India as a symbol of good luck and prosperity). Only when the Nazi party adopted it did it become a symbol of racism. The same applies with the Confederate flag. It's a symbol of pride, heritage and individuality in the South, but sometimes ignorant racist dumbfucks use it as a way to put momentum into their racist rhetoric. In reality, the Confederate flag really has nothing to do with slavery, white people or anything like that.

I agree, I hope to see a day when the Confederate flag is not used by any one for hate, but for every one as symbol of sacrifice and valor, A symbol of a time when men put there lives down for what they believed in.

If you are going to say the me who died under that flag fought for slavery, Who owned slaves during the war Robert E. Lee or Ulysses S. Grant . Ow yea it was Grant. The civil war had nothing to do with the fact that months before war. The north taxed the south and bankrupted several businesses there. And no it has nothing to do with fact that the north laughed in the souths face were they tryed to repeal the taxes in the house and senate. Now it is true that the south did not like the thought of loosing there slaves, they did not fight a war to keep slavery they fought it for freedom and loyalty to there states. The Confederacy was not raciest there flag was not a symbol of racism. In New Orleans a higher present of black people had slaves than white people did. So I rest my case.

Would a Nazi Germany flag be raciest?

Texas warrior

YES!!!!!!!!!!! I would not support flying a Nazi flag because it is truly evil. Look up Hitler ranting about Jews, its raciest.
In the C.S.A. black people had slaves, so the slave is less raciest than you might think, still very raciest but less so than people seem to think. And if I still have not convinced you of the fact that the flag is not raciest look at this.

By your logic, if the confederate flag is racist, then so are the American flag, the Chinese flag, the South Korean flag, and all the other flags in the world.

You do know that the swastika wasn't implemented during Hitler's rule of Germany, right? It's been around for centuries. It's an old symbol from the Sanskrit word suastika, which means lucky. The swastika was also widely used in Eastern Asia, and is still a major symbol in Buddhism and Hinduism. Did you know that even the American Indians used it? Excavation sites in Ohio have lead diggers to find murals depicting the swastika. The Nazi version of the swastika was turned a few degrees clockwise. The swastika itself isn't evil, it's the complete opposite of that.

i know that where i live wearing a shirt with a confederate flag is just showing that you love living in the south it has nothing to do with slavery. not many people fly a flag where i live but if you do it usually means the same thing. i mean sure some people probably fly it and use it to support slavery but i dont think that thats its major use.

I know that, I have nothing agents swastikas. But I hate Hitlers banner of Evil, Jew, black, White, nobody deserves to be put in a oven.

so to those who think I am evil for flying my battle flag so be it. I know what it truly stands for Valor and Sacrifice, not Hate and prejudiced.

I think its racist actually I mean if they changed the American Flag why cant they change the confederate flag. Even if it doesn't stand for slavery of anything people still think of slavery when they see that flag, its just the history behind it that makes it racist.

Actually you could commend some of his actions to bring the German economy out of its recession. Plus his charisma, but otherwise yeah he was nothing more than a lunatic.

He wasn't all that. I mean, sure he was intelligent but not one of the most notable minds in history. He certainly lost it towards the end.

The confederate flag itself is NOT racist despite what people on here says it was originally made to represent the South as its own country NOT to represent racism or being racist....now the only reason why some people still has them today is to show that they are from the south and proud of it...but there are also the people that do discriminate against minorities(not just blacks)!

I personally see it as racist only because of the whole slavery issue, no one has a confederate flag in my area so maybe its different in other places??
