View Full Version : Stereotypes of a drug user

I've been getting more and more agitated and pissed off by people who stereotype people that use drugs. In any way. I can't even tell you how many times people talk to me like I'm a fucking retard. OK!, I can admit that I do seem pretty out there about using drugs, even if I don't try to. It's just what people seem to get out of me when they look at me while my eyes are redder than the devil's sphincter and my pupils are as wide as dinner plates :). But anyway, people come up to me in school and expect me to be failing in all my classes and not giving a shit about school, when in reality, I read more than they have throughout the whole year and educate myself on things that I'M interested in, instead of going on facebook all day and playing with myself lol. Honestly, I'm not a dumb stoner like people think, I'm a smart one :D. And even though I'm NOT doing well in school, that's just because they teach boring shit and I like to educate myself about cool shit haha. Really though, the kids that think I'm a braindead druggie would be mindfucked if they ever even talked to me. I spend more time reading about conspiracies, world events, spiritual awakening, human evolution (and planetary evolution), and the human mind etc. than I do smoking weed. WHICH SAYS A LOT!! lol.
don't know if this is the right spot, but i think so, so it'll go here :D
the reason i've posted this is because it seems like the IQ of the kids in my town have been going down over the past few years. I don't know if it's something in the air, idk, but somehow they think that using drugs correlates to being braindead and being a dummy.

this is great.
people will always stereotype you. unfortunately, that's how this world works. i wish i could change it, you wish you could right? well, there are always gonna be haters.
anyway, my role model, even two of them are addicts.
my absolute model, that i plan on being like without the drugs, personality wise, of course... is my mother. she is an alcoholic. recovered, grant it, but she is still an alcoholic. she killed so many brain cells, which i thiiiiiiiiink make you smarter, but, she is still very intelligent, but not that weird kind of intelligent, ya know?
my second role model is demi lovato. she was not only someone with an eating disorder, but was into drugs, and started harming herself. someone brought up today actually that she is a bad disney star, someone in and out of rehab. however, i believe that this person was wrong, as demi proved she was strong enough to make the change.
but anyway, when it gets down to it, if the world turns on you, and you still like yourself, isn't that all that matters?

Man this irritates me a shit ton. People assume I'm stupid, even delusional. Because I act like a stoner (and I smoke weed + do hallucinogens). This stigma is really unfair. I mean everyone jokes about it from time to time. Stoners do it all the time. But are you really going to judge someone on what they do and not what their merits are?

I live in Mississippi. Litterally EVERYONE at my school smokes. I've been smoking for 4 years now. And the longest i've gone without it was about two weeks. Smoking weed is a ritual to me. The people i choose to hang around are decent, good people; but all of us stoners. People think of someone who smokes weed as less of a person, but in reality we realize and understand more than they do. I do great in school, all a's and b's, and i smoke every day. The negative stuff you hear from people, just let it go.

Stereotypes suck, but it is what it is. Just because someone labels you doesn't mean thats who/what you are. I wasn't labeled much for using drugs because I did relatively well in school, but there were still people who threw things around - I just wasn't really bothered by it, it was my choice to use drugs.

I think that the main stereotypes for drug users are these five types:
The Artist: They use drugs to get some sort of creative inspiration during the high.
The Attention Whore: This group uses drugs just to get some sort of attention because they can't get enough of it, let it be good or bad.
The Conformist: Because everyone's doing drugs around them they feel that they have to do them as well so they don't appear to be an outcast.
The Addict: Someone who started off in one of the other groups but now that they want to stop, they can't because they're addicted.
The Unicorn Rider: As the OP described.

Yeah bro, I try to keep the whole tripping thing on the DL for people I don't know. Not even because they would look upon me differently, but because the moment I say something about taking psilocybin or LSD or other stuff I've taken, people (mostly the ones that stereotype) are like "OMG DOOD WHAT WAS YOUR TRIP LIKE DID YOU SEE LITTLE SMURFS AND UNICORNS?!?!?!?!?", and my reaction is always the same. "..." with "-_-" look on my face.

I think that is very tasteless and stereotypical itself.
