I'm probably the slowest person in my whole grade. What can I do to run fast? How can I run fast? How long does it take to become 2x as fast?

I used to be slow too. Mind you I still suck shit at sprinting, but I pick my pace up on anything 400m or longer. Just burst I think, I used to train at the ring, 100m sprint on the straights and jog the 100m curve. Rinse and repeat, 20 laps a day. Then twice a day once you've progressed a little.

What I did to run fast is I worked on strengthening my stride by stretching it out. The more ground you eat up the less there is left. Also, work on not bouncing around while you run, and work on better posture keeping your head up back straight, and a slight bend at the hips.

A lot of it is mental. As a person who doesn't train, I can tell you that you have to get mad. Get mad at your mom, or your brother, or that bitch who dumped you or something. It'll give you a shot of adrenaline and a little testosterone, and voila, you'll be able to run faster.
But train too :)

I exersize a lot and wear good sneakers. Usually Puma sneakers work nicely for me because i have narrow feet, but different brands fit well on different types of feet.

I reccomend stretching your sides out so you don't get side cramps while running, get nice fitting sneakers, leg muscles by running on a treadmill, and just eating healthy all the time, and not over eating.

I've always gotten running shoes or whatever, I don't wear casual shoes. I got these cool Nike shoes. And their really light, I'd probably say they are 1 lb. or something really light, but I could notice a definite difference from these Nike running shoes vs my old Nike shoes. Is has Dual Fusion or whatever with the feet padding.

It's not just how cool or comfortable they are. I went to one of our local specialist places, they got me to run on a treadmill and used cameras and shit to analyse and suggest me one. They work a charm, little pair of Mizunos that cost a bitch.

Apparently there's all this craze about running barefoot and how it's all natural and shit, but friend of mine got stubbed in the toe by a nail so no thanks for me :P

I wouldn't buy shoes with "shit" unfortunately. But yeah haha, I know someone who trains with them. Meh. Might as well train naked so you don't clog your sweat pores too while you're at it.

Are you talking about Sprinting or Endurance running? both are trained for in different ways

Invincible

I think for soccer, you're gonna need 'em both. I train a bit of both, although I'm a much better endurance runner than a sprinter.

How can I train for that using the elliptical? Do quick bursts for 30 seconds then rest for 1 minute?

Eww elliptical :P I'd say go out and run. But yeah, do that. I always go on hill climb mode and run though. Sometimes i'd jump on the stairs machine for 3-5 minutes and burn it all at max level. I've seen my heart rate jump to 195, probably not good, but feels good :D

I dont know about on elliptical, but i used to do something called fartleg training - or swedish running. anyway its slaughter but it gets you really fit and will help
you increase your speed.

You should start off by knowing your boundaries, e.g go for a jog a see how far you can run without stopping, lets say you can run 5 miles i would start by trying this for 2 miles and work your way up.

So heres what it is:

Sprint as fast as you can for a distance
Jog for a set time
Sprint a distance
Jog for a set time

And repeat, might sound bollocks but i swear its the best thing you can do

When i do this i dont do it for a distance but rather a time, heres my set up

Warm up by doing a slow jog for around 10 minuets
Sprint for 200m - i chose this because this is the sport i trianed for and reached national level the last 3 years
then i would jog for 400m - which is the rest zone you shouldnt go too slowly or you wont gain as much benefit, but if you got to fast you wont be rested enough to keep up a good sprint
Then i sprint 100m
Jog as fast as i can for 100m
Sprint 100m
Jog as fast as i can for 100m
~~Last steps 4 steps were to replicate 100m~~

Sprint 200m
Jog for 100m

Etc. as you can see i tailored it to me needs and you should do the same with your routine but the point is lots of speed levels, and never to stop running

Hope this helps

Practice. Practice. Practice.. I'm sure you've heard this, but it's true. The more you practice at something, at really anything. The better you will get.. Try taking longer strides..
Before my cross country provincial meet, I practices my little butt off, and got 13/1900.. She what you can accomplish with practising.. It just takes time.. Also. Start off with a light jog every day, and as the days go on, pick up the pace a bit. Also if you can, ry to time yourself. It's a great motivation.
