I have a friend who actually believes this. I think it's complete shit.

The problem with people who subscribe to "New World Order" theories is that, in order to justify their logic, they assume that everything is a lie. The moment you assume that everything is just a fabrication is when you cross from skepticism to insanity.

Conspiracy theories are usually founded on the idea that nothing is credible. Once you go down that logical path, you can justify absolutely anything. It's fatally flawed thinking that's just as corrupt and illogical as religious extremism.

I'd say there's no evidence at all that even implies the existence of the Illuminati. No, I don't believe it one bit.

The only "evidence" I've seen to "back up" the Illuminati theory comes in the form of ridiculous YouTube videos that try and connect the New World Order to shit like dollar bills. It's all just paranoid nonsense. Really, if there were a secret organization running the country, why the hell would they put things on dollar bills?

I guarantee there's an Illuminati

Whenever you say this, it's because of one of three reasons.

Your father told you.
Your S.S. teacher told you.
You saw it on TV.

That's not proof. :hippy:

David Icke, Texe Marrs, Ryan Burke, Jüri Lina and Morgan Gricar have argued that the Bavarian Illuminati survived, possibly to this day. Many of these theories propose that world events are being controlled and manipulated by a secret society calling itself the Illuminati.[10][11] Conspiracy theorists have claimed that many notable people were or are members of the Illuminati. Presidents of the United States are a common target for such claims.[12][13]
A key figure in the conspiracy theory movement, Myron Fagan, devoted his latter years to finding evidence that a variety of historical events from Waterloo, The French Revolution, President John F. Kennedy's assassination and an alleged communist plot to hasten the New World Order by infiltrating the Hollywood film industry, were all orchestrated by the Illuminati ]

-big ass wall of Wikipedia copypasta-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati

None of that is relevant to your argument. Nowhere in that pasta does it say that the Illuminati are still present.

This isn't proof of anything. You've misread it.

All Wikipedia is saying is that there was indeed an organization named the Illuminati – during the Enlightenment. That is, over 200 years ago. There is absolutely no evidence at all that points to any sort of "Illuminati" existing today. It doesn't exist. It hasn't for hundreds of years.

The end of your paragraph talks about modern-day conspiracy theorists, but it says nothing about the actual existence of the Illuminati. You know why? Because it doesn't. There is no New World Order. Conspiracy theorists make claims like this, and pull evidence out of their asses.
