Nintendo has announced an online community coming to the Wii U called the Nintendo Network.

It's basically like PSN or Xbox Live, and it doesn't involve those shittificated friend codes anymore.

Will it succeed?

No. Nintendo's community isn't based on the principle of online gaming. It has always been focused on family type deals. Additionally, not many of the online 'gamers' are going to be willing to put down an XBox controller down for a Wii remote.
