PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins named Sidney Crosby team captain on Thursday.
At 19 years old, Crosby is the youngest captain in NHL history.
The Pens have not had a team captain since Mario Lemieux in 2006.
I dunno about you guys, but i dont think that was a very good decision. Hes only been in the league for 2 years. Captains should be veterans, not 19yr olds.

someone like mark recci would have been a better choice for now but crosby is arguably the best player in the league and from what i hear is a good team guy so i guess its not a bad decision really.

Yes he is argueably the best player in the league, but in terms of experience hes still a "noob".

again, arguably the best player in the league
but the thing is, is that Crosby is a playmaker, as the same as Gretzky, and the Great One could have realistically been a captain at any time in his career because of his Playmaking skills.
Crosby follows the same line. He is inexperienced, but you have to start sometime. Steve Yzerman was a captain for 20 years (i think? idk i forgot the number but 20 sounded right) which means that he was a captain since his early seasons.
but, another thing, Crosby was an Alternate last season, and so, he has "captianic" experience.
