I know I definitely couldn't. God I count on music for so much, calming me down, hobby, entertainment, everything. I don't even want to think about what I would be like without it.

But if life was out music, how can you say you'd like it or not? You wouldn't know what music was in the first place. This makes it impossible to make a judgement of whether or not you would or wouldn't like it. It's the same principle of describing colour to a blind person. How would you describe music to someone who was deaf and had never heard music before?

No. To take away music is to take away the sublime in life. Wouldn't be much of a life to live without it. For me, anyway. Music has been my one companion when I most needed it. Music can understand what is inside. Music affects people, changes them, makes them feel. Without it, I could be brought no lower.

Nope. Without music I would probably commit suicide, for real. It's the only thing that keeps me going sometimes, although admittedly a world without the likes of Rebecca Black and that Justin kid might be better.

This post is completely stupid. One; you're saying a blind person can't describe or think of any colors, simply because they're blind. Blind people CAN see in their dreams on occasions - not all, but some. Although you can't see it doesn't mean you can't perceive it in a certain way, which is what most do. Source. (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/16/health/16real.html) You should also take in context someone like Beethoven who couldn't hear and had tinnitus, but had the ability to create something like this -

You also have the award winning percussionist Evelyn Glennie who is deaf.
Dean Shibata, MD, found that deaf people are able to sense vibrations in the same part of the brain that others use for hearing. Shibata was at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in New York at the time of the study.
He studied 10 students with profound hearing loss from birth and compared them to 11 hearing people. Each person was asked to tell the researchers when they were able to detect a vibrating pipe in their hand. At the same time, brain scans were done to pick up signals being transmitted to the brain.
Shibata found that when the deaf people felt the vibrations, areas in the brain that are usually responsible for hearing showed activity.
Shibata presented his findings at a meeting of the Radiological Society of North America this week.
"These findings suggest that the experience deaf people have when 'feeling' music is similar to the experience other people have when hearing music," said Shibata in a news release.
"The perception of the musical vibrations by the deaf is likely every bit as real as the equivalent sounds, since they are ultimately processed in the same part of the brain," he says.

You should also try to research zoomusicology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoomusicology).
And no, I would not survive without the sounds that I love. Without them, I'd kill myself. They're the only thing keeping me 'stable'.

Well, I'm actually going to respond seriously: no, I would not survive. Music is why I'm still alive, and music is the reason I continue to live. If that were to be taken from me, I would kill myself.

Honestly, I'd be alive. Music is pleasurable, decent, appropriate, awesome. But I don't understand how it's completely necessary. Sometimes I like complete silence.

Music is a natural part of life. The melody of the rain, crickets chirping, the wind whistling. All put together create lovely sounds. So, music will always be here and always has.

It's not essential, like water or air or something along those lines, those are the ones that keep us alive. I know I'm being over rational, but whatever. Music makes life more bearable, that's what I think, but we could live without it, especially if we never knew it existed.

Well of course it's not essential to survival. :P That still doesn't mean it has no potential to keep people alive.

Birds chirp to communicate, along with crickets.
The wind doesn't make music, it's wind.
Rivers, waterfalls, and the tide are water.

Maybe if there was never music, I'd be able to survive. But no, most of the day I listen to music. Hell, a song made me stop and think "What the fuck am I doing?" when I was about to commit suicide. So, no. At this point in time, I would be dead.

Music. The answer to my life. I depend on it to get me through my day. If i had no music i would survive just like the rest of us would, but i would be a different person. I wouldn't have a way to block out all the noise that confuses me. And all the haters. So yes i could survive without music. But no, i don't want to even think about what my life would be without it.

A life without violins, violas, cellos, bases, viola de gambas, lutes, vielles, rebecs, pianos, lyres, and harpsichords? Probably would be simply unbearable for humans, along with the fact that if music didn't exist many aspects of life wouldn't exist, as people view many different things as music.

Without music, there is no life. Considering, nearly every sound you hear is considered music. (As long as you hear a 2 or more tones after each other, no matter that is creating those sounds, you have just heard music)
