I bought Star Wars: The Old Republic about a month ago before Christmas. I really like it, but the money I would need to spend to keep my account activated is beyond what I can afford. Plus, I went through a crapload of trouble just getting the game card for it.
I was considering Skyrim before it, but I hadn't played The Elder Scrolls before and I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it. After seeing Skyrim gameplay, I want it a lot now.
I have Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, but the new one isn't as simple as that.
Should I wait for my account to expire, return it, and get Skyrim, or stick with TOR?

hmm its a hard decision. i have never played SW:TOR and dont plan on it because of the membership but many of my friends love it. But Skyrim is amazing. Theres so much stuff to do that will keep you busy for hours at a time and for over 100 hours to come. Theres so many caves to explore, quests to be done, and wars to end.

The big difference between TOR and Skyrim is online multiplayer. The Elder Scrolls series has always been a single player RPG game. TOR obviously goes the route of games like World of Warcraft and Eve Online. So if you want to play with others, go ahead and play TOR. If you prefer a single player experience, like a lot of people, go for The Elder Scrolls.
If you really want to get into TES, I would suggest starting at IV: Oblivion. It's much more simple than Skyrim (considering it was made six years ago), but it's still an incredibly fun game. Also, make sure you read up on the lore of the series; if you really want to be immersed in TES, the lore is a great place to start.

You will not be able to return SWTOR.
I would stick with TOR just because of the online play.

SHIT! I forgot... Oh well...
Thanks anyway, everyone. I'll get Oblivion next time it's on sale for $7.50 on Steam. :P

Skyrim is definitely worth buying! I had never really payed much attention to TES before but I am addicted to Skyrim (like its pretty much my life right now) and now I'm considering buying Oblivion too.
