Sometimes when I'm trying to read a post, the spelling, punctuation and grammar is so bad that I can't understand what they're trying to say.
So I think that where the fonts, sizes, font colours and the rest of the buttons are there should be a spell checking button.
It's the same way the G-mail spell check works. You click the button and the bad words are highlighted in yellow. When you click on the highlighted words, suggestions come up and then you click on the word you were trying to type.
It would save people from not being able to read the post and for people who want to spell perfectly; it would save time because they don't have to correct the post in word first.
What does everyone think?

On PC's, there are. Not on my Mac though, but anyway, that doesn't mean that everyone is going to use it.

but the spell check only checks spelling right? not grammar? anyways, I agree with StoppingTime. Not everyone will use it...

For the most part, the people who spell badly do so because they don't care. I find that most spelling "mistakes" are actually intentional, like shortcuts for words and the like. Besides, grammar tends to be a larger issue than spelling, and until they can implement an intelligent grammar-check, this idea won't solve much.

Imagine what would happen if it became like iOS auto-correct.

This is true. I use that.
Of course, though, plenty of forums have built in spell-checkers, and people still refuse to use it because it is just -way- too much work to go and right click every underlined word, and choose the best spelling for it. Just so much work. So much...

I don't know if its really necessary... I've never really came across a post that I absolutely couldn't understand. Maybe its just me though.

Many internet browsers come with spell checkers, and I doubt people posting a quick reply will even bother learning to spell check their work, it's not like they are writing an essay and are getting graded on it. And a lot of peoples spelling on here is actually quite good. My advice would be to 13e4Rn }{0\/\/ 2 5p34k 0/\/ +h3 1n+3rn3t (Learn how to speak on the internet)

Yes it does. Try typing random letters. It will underline them in red.
