I have an old cat and lately she yowls all night. It's like she's crying. Maybe she's lonely and confused. But despite how sympathetic I am for her, it's obnoxious. Letting her into my room with me makes it worse since she'll sit on my floor and yowl loudly.

Maybe she needs to go to the bathroom or is hungry? Maybe she has a health issue that is bothering/hurting her? Why not just take her to the vet or make sure she can access the bathroom and/or get food. My cat is the same way at night and I tend to let him eat for a bit and then throw him outside so he can go to the bathroom. (I don't bother letting him back in though, just incase he will need to go to the bathroom again at a later time at night when I am asleep).

Yes, have you taken her to the bathroom, have you fed her, and have you made sure that she gets pet during the day?

I don't think that's the problem. We're feeding her twice a day, morning and night, and she's eating it. I also believe she's (as far as I know) using her litter box. She stops yowling when I pay attention to her, but I obviously have other things to do in the evening.

My mom's an educated small animal vet, so I trust her with health problems. My old cat might have hyperthyroidism, but we don't really know.
