Just saw an episode where Brian takes some sort of drug and hallucinates. Is that what it's really like? The walls moving and stuff like that? What's it like?

I've been thinking about this kind of stuff ever since this morning cause I had a pretty intense nightmare that I did drugs. So my version of the dream was I cut my upper arm and put drug
Powder in them. (I know that's not how it is) so then after that whenever people talked to me I would hear what they said 8 seconds after they said it. It also felt cloudy. I don't plan on doing drugs I'm just interested in this hallucinating stuff.

Thats crazy. Doing drugs is really addictive. I would say not to do it. It does make you allucinate but then things get crazy and it all goes to hell.

I have friends that have done shrooms and they feel exactly what you describe. Shrooms are pretty safe as long as you don't get too large of a dosage, I'm not interested in them but you could probably do them once without any serious consequences.

Oh good God. There's a lot of misinformation about psychedelics. They do make walls appear to be moving, they do make colors brighter. They do make you hallucinate....sort of. Not in the way most people think. It's more like putting yourself in situations and following really atypical thought loops. When I did LSD, I remember seeing things melt and flow like water, but I didn't really notice full-on hallucinations. Usually high doses can do that, but even then, those hallucinations have some grounding in either your subconscious or reality (what's in front of you).

Mushrooms are probably one of the safest drugs around. Most psychedelics are pretty safe. In general, they are more "mind trip" than full on hallucinations. There's a visual aspect to all psychedelics. The newer, synthetic psychedelics that were invented as probes for the 5HT2A receptor are generally more of just pure visual eye-candy (DOI, 25i-NBOMe, DOC, Brom-Dragonfly etc). Even then, it's not random visuals but visual distortions and relevant hallucinations. Because of this, psychedelics must be respected and used in a proper set and setting. It's good to have people babysitting you too. I've never actually heard of anyone doing anything lethal while tripping - your fear/danger senses are pretty intact - but you do get funny ideas. Like taking your shirt off and running around the house proclaiming you've discovered a cave in your shirt.

Some studies show that psychedelics can be quite useful in therapy and psychiatric situations. More research needs to be done here.
