Are you capable of driving manual? This is mainly for people in North America because I assume nearly every European does drive manual.
Does anyone know any intermediate shifting techniques? Does anyone left foot brake or heel-toe?

I can drive a manual. It isn't pretty, but it works. Unfortunately, my car is automatic. It is literally the most boring way to drive.

Well I won't vote in the poll cos I'm from England and as you said, most of us here drive 'stick shift' lol.
I've had 5 cars and never owned an auto yet! Dont want to either lol. I have driven a few though.....and I kept going for the non existant clutch lol. Much prefer manual driving, and i havent stalled since learning to drive lol.....manual isn't difficult tbh. :)

I cant stand driving automatic, its so lazy like or something. Your more more alert, did you know that 95 percent of all accidents are cars of automatic! I always tell people they should drive standard. you save more gas also.

I have only ever driven an automatic once, and I like them equally.
My current car is a manual, but that is getting written off in a few weeks, but the car I want to buy very rarely comes in manual, so its gonna be auto :P

I prefer a manual trans I guess since my mom has pounded in my head for as long as I can remember that str8 stick cars get better gas mileage. I have been driving my uncles tractors and dump truck for the last 2 summers. you can't left foot brake on a tractor unless you want to go in circles...the steering columb in the dump truck is in the way so left foot braking is kinda impractical but not impossible. the heal and toe methood is a must with his junk truck if you expect to keep it running while stopped. I really do not know what you mean about intermediate shifting techniques ??? The dump truck has 5 speed manual trans and 2 speed diff and so far been doing Ok using it. :)

Well my current car is automatic, when I get another it will be a manual, I love manual shift, gives me more speed control and allows me to drift easier....
I learned one way to drive manual and that is fast, i learned how to drive a manual in an ambulance, hahaha, first day out an I had to sit shotgun because I didn't know how to drive the manual....fuck me....but when we got back one of the medics taught me so now I do but only fast and that mean 75mph and up....

My dad has an old Austin bus that he turned into a motorhome. It has a 5 speed crash box which means you have to double clutch to change down gears. I drive on back roads when we go on holidays so I'm pretty good at it now. Anyone else driven a crash box?

Drive stick all the time. Haven't stalled yet, quite surprisingly. I love full control over my gearing and just having something extra to play with when I'm driving. They're cheaper, more efficient and faster, plus comes with more aluminum and leather in the car. That's what I like.
I heel-toe all the time. I'd dare say I'm quite an expert especially when I see others drive. Drive fast, shift fast, and pretty top notch efficiency all in one I'd say.

Here in America, the automatics are the ones that are generally cheaper and have better options. In fact, most models don't have a manual option.

I've never driven a stick. I'd love to learn though. I think I could mostly do it, I can tell when a car needs to shift.
The SUV I drive has AutoStick and I use that most of the time. The car I drive let's you use 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, instead of Drive.

What you can't do is grab a sweet Magnaflow, kick the clutch in and redline at a red light behind some granny at night, and watch her shrivel with fear. Not that I do it much, but it does come in handy when she's fallen asleep and it hits green..

Honestly, thats pretty prickish.
And most people around here that do that are easily beaten by my 1998 Accord.

Probably not me I'm afraid :P
@northskater110 how'd you do that? Never heard of it but installing paddles would be kinda cool on a paddleless auto.. I got to drive the DSG Golf when I sent mine in for a service, have to say paddles + dual clutch would be the next best thing.

My friend has a shifter kart that I drove a long time ago for fun, so I learned a bit there. Clutching took a bit of work in our family car but I figured it out after a few weeks

i have no fucking clue how he did it, its so sick though. You still need to hit the clutch, but instead you can just keep your hands on the wheel and shit. you hit with your thumb and move it forwards to shift up, and the rest of your fingers towards you to shift backwards. its fun, and way different haha.

Manual is the only way to really drive. Gotta take a look at my clutch though, it chatters a bit. Hate having to drive my moms silly SUV, its so boring.

Can drive both. Manual is dead and old school. New era is Twin Clutch :) Best way to drive :p puts the slow laggy manual to shame :)
