I have been asked/forced into playing at the school prom.
I'm good with a guitar and my voice isnt complete torture listening to :P
The only problem is I suck at picking out songs to play at my gigs, usually I'm able to decide on a few songs but this time I can't decide on anything at all.
So I need some help picking a few songs.
It have to be something I can play on a guitar and sing to,my voice is deep,Mark Knopfler or Chris Rea deep.
I'm no fan of playing strumming songs so don't even mention them xD
Any suggestions is appreciated ^^

Is this just you? Cause that'd get really boring really fast. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "strumming songs". Please elaborate.

Yeah, cuz I have a billion song ideas if it's more than just you.

I'm alone up there,if I'm lucky I will have a bass player joining me.
By strumming songs I mean songs where there's almost just strumming up and down, gets boring to play really fast :P

I'm guessing you mean single note songs rather than cords. So this would mean more lead rather than rhythm orientated.

Something by Ash might be good. But they focus a lot on the drums. You could also do an instrumental. Binge and Grab is a simple Buckethead song but the solo is challenging.

A great song that's easy to play and doesn't have very technical vocals is Ooh La La by the Faces. The lead guitar track does involve strumming but it sounds great and you can make it more difficult if you want to. You can learn the song quickly too.
