okay so i sent a message on facebook to a friend that i talk to all the time in high school. it's been a whole week and she still hasn't responded, i know she's been on facebook even tho it's exam week, because she's liked and commented on my post as well as others :/ IMO it's simply polite to respond to someone as soon as you have the time, im i the only one who thinks this? and i know that she isnt the sort who wont respond just to leave guys hanging or something like that... anyways i just wanted to know if im over reacting and if theres a reason why she hasnt answered me back yet. i don't want to bring it up with her because it seems like such a small matter and since i like to keep my online life separated from real life

If you feel like she's ignoring it, maybe send one more asking if she got it? After that, just leave it. It could be anything: a glitch in the messaging system ('cause it happens often) or she just haven't had time to reply, etc. Sometimes when I'm on Facebook, I just alerts and statuses that can be found on the main page but don't look at messages right away. As you said, it's the middle of exams so she could genuinely be busy.

But you're right, it's polite to get even an acknowledgement. Just try again politely and see if she responds then.

i cannot tell you how much i know how you feel. I get SO anxious when i have trouble getting people to respond to me online/over the phone, etc. But, if you don't have problems talking with her in person, that's what really matters so i wouldn't worry about it.
