Just be yourself. You'll find people with similar interests who you have things in common with.

This. For most people, making friends with common interests is easier than movies/media/whatever make it out to be.

The same as the above really, just make sure you can trust them, tahts what friends are for isn't it. if they are going to turn round and bite you in the neck then they arn't worth being friends with. Just join a group who you feel most comfortable with and share the same intrests as and you will fit into the new school quicker.

Just go with the flow, basically. Talk to people in class (though not when the teacher's talking, of course), ask them about the school, clubs, their other classes, find out what they're interested in. I've noticed the best friends I've made weren't from setting out to make friends but just by being casual and friendly in a social setting. I met my best friend asking to borrow a pencil on our high school orientation day. :P

Mike beat me to it, just be yourself. Lying about who you are to make friends would just be a terrible idea. You should do fine, everyone has things about them that make them a good friend :) Good luck with the transfer next year, just enjoy time with your friends while you're still there.
