So I cut today with the intention of going deep.....now I am not sure if I did or not. How do I know when it serious enough to get medical attention....that wasnt my goal. But it was a new sharp blade and I pressed down hard. Should I be looking for anything specific?

Aslong as u can stop the bleeding and clean it then medical attention is not required

I read the article but I am still concerned and having a hard time figuring out if its too deep. Wish I had someone here and now that I could confide in and talk to.....

I don't really think there is a difference. As long as you draw blood, it is dangerous. However, I think a cut only deserves medical attention if it is bleeding so much that you can't stop it with at least one towel, or if you can see muscle/bone.

My rule for medical attention (appologies for the gore), is if the cut is gaping, and you can see a kind of orange/yellowy colour just before it starts bleeding, or when you wipe the blood away and you can see that kind of colour. That means you've hit the fat, which requires stitches. I don't think you would have bothered asking if you'd gone as far as to hit muscle or bone, I think you'd be pretty certain it was too deep.
Also, if the blood is squirting, then you've hit an artery and would need to go to hospital imediately. But again, I think you'd gather that.
Like the others have said, talking to someone would really help. If they do over react at first, it's probably just the shock of it, people calm down eventually in my experience.
