Now, I've been on a high for about 3 days now... I know when I come down its not going to be good but hey... I've struggled with depression for about 3-4 years... Now I don't know what to do. It hasn't shown any signs of sodding off... I know it doesn't one day just disappear but I have had it severely for a long time... Will it ever leave me alone? Its like a hand on my chest holding me back to do anything with my life...

Hmm I hope it does for ya dude! Try to see if there is any reason behind the depression and look at positive things that might help lift your spirits. Sometimes you can use depression in a positive way to be creative, but yeah hang in there man!

I'm sorry to hear this buddy. Have you talked to a buddy about how you feel?

First off, talk to someone. This is not something you can deal with on your own. You're still a child, you can't expect to help yourself effectively. Talk to someone about how you're feeling; preferably a mental health professional, if you can get one. Hardships are much more bearable with some sort of support system to guide you through your hardest times and give you hope.

You are only 14, your life is just beginning. I know things seem bleak right now, and it feels like you won't be rid of the misery you carry for a while, but trust me, things get easier. Get yourself into therapy, perhaps get yourself prescribed some antidepressants etc. It feels hopeless now, but that's an illusion created by the very feelings you are trying to rid yourself of.

These things take time. Don't be discouraged if you if don't wake up shitting rainbows one day. I've been on antidepressants for months and I still feel crappy often. You just have to realize that there are so many great things waiting for you in the future; your life has really only just begun, and giving up now would be such a waste.

Do you know if there is something depressing you or do you think that you are clinically depressed. If you are clinically depressed, anti-depressants could be prescribed by your doctor...

anti-depressants arn't always the answer you should try everything else you can before going onto meds as you end up relying on them. Have you tried self help books, i mean i know its patronising and everything but they do work, my mum had chronic depression and was suisidal but after reading stuff by paul macenna it really changed her life. I know there is a big age difference but it was just an idea.
Talk to someone, if you cant talk to people out straight or even on vt, childline is a good place to go, they have a one on one chat room and it just lets you get out all your feelings absolutley anonymous and they don't give you any shit either.

Thanks guys. Well I made a big mistake, cut far up my arm on a school night, which means it wont hide itself, guess I'm gunna have to talk it out with someone :(

But I'm really scared atm. What if my mum asks what happened to my arm. I normally do it at weekends when I stay up all night :(

Oh no, I'm really sorry. I wish I could say there is a definite way to hide them but to be honest there isn't, she is your mum though I'm sure that she'd like to help you and know what's going on. You never know but she might be able to help with your depression as well if she doesn't already know about it.
If your really scared about it just remember to always wear a long sleeves shirt or jumper, maybe wear it to bed as well just in case. You shouldn't be scared, if she did find out she might surprise you and be really helpful and supportive. She only wants the best for you so justvtry letting her in, it might be hard but it's probably the best way to get help.

Well I can tell you that depression doesn't ever go away, but it does get easier to deal with. You've gotta find people you can talk to, be it me or someone on this site, your friendds, a therapist, someone. It doesn't do any good to keep all your feelings in, trust me.

You should also go to the doctor too, they might be able to help you find some medicine or a good therapist. I've had depression for a few years now too, and I've only recently told my doctor about it. So I guess the sooner the better.

You'll be okay man. Life is hard, but so very beautiful.
