Anyone got any tips? It seems nearly everyone in my current school hates me, and I have self-confidence issues so it's hard to meet new people. Also most people I meet know one of the people from my-school which never ends up well.

I've tried Twitter and Facebook but that never ends up well. I just want to meet someone I could get on with.

Make friends first. Friends are always more important at this point in life. If you're trying hard to meet someone, you'll either find a shitty hookup, or nothing at all. Don't search for a partner. Just fucking live life for all you can. Life isn't defined by having a significant other, and friends are the shit.

I actually agree with this entirely.

Also, just get out there and be social. Aim for friends but sometimes you'll find someone who you'll immediately find yourself attracted to but never had the intention. It's even better when it's a surprise and not something you're pining for. Hell, I met my ex at a random party playing spin the bottle... and even then, while it was obvious we really liked one another, we got to know each other as sort of like best friends rather than aiming for a relationship right away. Not to mention, those are the people you're more likely to stay friends with if it doesn't work out and you don't lose them unless you really don't want them in your life and that's fine too. But having the option is nice.

Also, Twitter and Facebook? Don't bother. Some people genuinely have relationships over the internet but I, personally, prefer being able to see the person... not to mention the internet has a tendency to produce creeps...
