Anybody know what actually happens at these things?
I've got my first appointment on Tuesday and I'm dreading it.

Usually any type of counseling is just to provide you with someone to talk to and relate to and they will listen. Most counselors have been through some rough patches themselves.
They'll likely give you tactics and exercises to use on your way to overcoming what's happened to you.
Good luck and don't worry, they are there to help. All counselors are very accepting and understanding people. You may even make a new friend.:)

It's just talking to someone who understands exactly how you feel, someone that might have been through it or just someone there to listen.
Good luck, let us know how it goes :)

Like above. But when I last went counselling it made me worse because she just bought the stuff back on me. If they upset you, you must tell them because they don't know you... They normally help though. Good Luck!

i failed miserably! it really isnt for me. i was being made to go by a doctor who said they need to rule out the rape for the reasons for why im a bit crazy (my words) and the counsellor i went to see said she could never determined that by just "counselling" me. so i didnt even attempt to get into it with her. that sort of thing really isnt for me. iv just figured.
but thanks for answering anyway guys
much appreciated!

Well im glad you went and gave it a go.
To be honest talking about rape really isnt for me either, i find it brings up all sort of stuff your trying to forget and makes it so much worse in the long run. But every person is different.
I know how you feel and i have been through it, im always here if you wanna talk <3
