So I used to be all into the whole Apple product hype and I would always get alerts on the new products and stuff but i never really felt like anything changed. When i was finally able to get a smartphone I initially chose the LG Ally, a piece of shit that i exchanged for a Droid Incredible. After that, I have been stuck on Android devices. I just don't get it now why it's such a huge deal...the operating system would make me so bored after a while, all you can do is move the apps and jailbreak it if u want to. With Android, you can install custom roms and stuff and it makes it so much more personal and makes it exactly how you want it, not all closed down like iOS is...sorry to be rambling...

I know exactly what you mean.

All of these "iDevices" are fun in the beginning, but then they quickly get boring. It's too simple for my taste, yet that is what is so appealing to most consumers. Not to mention, it's very closed, and the SDKs aren't exactly free(from what I've heard. I haven't bothered to check). Apple can do basically anything with your iDevice.
Android is a little better, but still not the best. At least the OS itself is open. However, when the phone companies use it, that changes. You cannot obtain their source code anymore, as that is now a "trade secret". Also, the main development language is Java, which is also not open source.

If I had to choose, I would pick an Android device. But I'm perfectly content with my Alacatel something-or-another; I don't really do much with it anyways.

Totally agree. Though I use my iPod touch for gaming, i actually prefer my HTC Wildfire S with android. Why else would Apple copy the drag-down notifications, but sue android when they "copied" a swipe-to-unlock lock screen?

I appreciate Apple products immensely. This is mainly due to the quick and easy interface, and the immense customization capacity which comes with it. If I need to complete a specific task, it's easy to pull out my iPhone and download a quick app to aid me along the way. Also, the new iCloud makes connecting with my other devices very easy, and just makes everything so convenient.

This isn't to say that I dislike any phone/computer with an OS that isn't by Mac. In fact, I was very impressed with one of the newer Android phones (I don't know the exact model). However, it didn't have the same easy interface as my iPhone (the "minimalistic" appeal of Apple products is wonderfully executed), and it didn't work for me.

It really depends on what you're looking for, I suppose. I like to easily put together professional-looking documents on my computer, or be able to download a new utility-based program at the snap of my fingers. If I needed to crunch numbers all day as an accountant, or deal with stocks, you can bet that I wouldn't be using a Mac.

I agree with you on how easy it is to do things on the iPhone, but what are you talking about "immense customization"?

Jailbreaking my Iphone made it completely worth it. The only reason I got it was to be able to utilize the extensive customer base behind it. Apple's other products are annoyingly hyped up and over simplified versions that are extra expensive. However, I do believe the Iphone is a good competitor.

You can hardly attribute the customization options available after jailbreaking to Apple. They do everything in their power to keep people from jailbreaking. Thank the developers of Cydia and the mods available via Cydia for that customization, not Apple.
