Does anyone play minecraft?

I've played this game for a while however its been getting more and more addicting, so i decided to create my own server (again) I owned one in the past. In my own opinion this is the best sandbox game there is. While the graphics aren't the best the principle game is amazing.

About my server

Welcome to Paradigm's public SMP - PVP - PVE factions Bukkit server, build freely with no risk of grieffing or theft, our server is open to the public. We support LWC and factions along with several other plung-ins we are a bukkit server. We intend to keep a friendly player base and an honest leadership so our members don't have to worry about abuse. We have a mob arena and shop great faction set up! You'll enjoy it here.

For more detailed information regarding Paradigm please visit us at http://www.Paradigm-HQ.net from there you'll be able to read more about us and join our community forums we are looking for constructive feedback or suggestions you'd like to see implemented. Currently we are looking for moderators & builders that are skilled in those specific roles. Feel free to apply for those position via the Paradigm forums. Also if your interested in applying for a staff position at paradigm you can do so via our website forums.

Its also worth mentioning that we are still working hard on both the server and the website so we hope to keep rolling out updates frequently. I personally look forward to seeing you in-game.

I'll get it someday. A new car is priority #1 at the moment.

That didn't answer anything about why they are playing it. You kind of made that sound a little cold. I'm pumped about minecraft why? Because its the best sand box game evaa! :yeah:

It's not worth 10 dollars. I, admittedly, pirated a copy with help from a friend. Launching it is very whiny because of that. Launching aside it is better than Terraria.

Fair enough, I mean everyone has their own view. But I think its unheard of to find a game as diverse as minecraft. Granted single player is blah, but online is amazing depending on the server you connect too.

Terraria is just a very poor copy of Minecraft, I pity the creativity of the man who founded that game.

You say its PvP? Their is nothing more anti-PvP than not being able to grief. Blowing up other people's bases with a tnt cannon is one of the most important aspects of pvp, along with stealing their shit. You server is a creative server, sorry. 208.188.0.77:25570 for REAL pvp. Staff is trusted and unabusive (ima mod). Blowing up people's bases, stealing their shit, killing people, and claiming their base is what really makes pvp what it is.

I like it as is, what your referring to is a chaos server, which is alight in small doses. Here at least you can own some land without having to worry about getting greiffed, people can still raid ect.

how do you raid without griefing? Especially when all the chests/doors are locked with lwc? Creative servers are great for showing off artistic buildings. PvP is more for making a 10 layer thick wall of checkerboard obsidian to guard your base. The server I play on has destroyable obsidian so people can't hide inside their bases. Water/lava/air bases are also not allowed, because you can't tnt them.

Everyone is different, in many cases I like pvp and sense of ownership without having to worry about my structure after I logout. While I see your point I much prefer the way my server is set up, it gives the best of both worlds, survival smp with some pvp mixed in.

Just the way I like it. :yeah:

Now the learning begins, feel free to hop on my server. Google how to use Factions on minecraft. Honestly minecraft is really complex, try learning red stone wiring. You must be smart.

Multiplayer is way better than SP for Minecraft, especially when you have friends to play it with.

I'd like to try sky blocks with a friend personally.

I'm 20, my first thought about minecraft was the graphics are shit, then I actually played it and figured out what online was like. Every server is entirely different depending on which mods/ plugins they have puts a completely different spin on things. Please check out my server.

However if you new I suggest you google how to use minecraft factions. In my opinion my server is the best. BOOM!

I play on and off. I really don't like where it's going, I'm trying to trust Jeb since I really didn't like Notch but... ocelots? I was vouching for the monkeys. There's a reason I hate the Mo' Creatures mod. Do they have a purpose other than becoming house cats? I mean really, wolves even have a purpose and I completely ignore them because they aren't quite as worthy as keeping pigs, sheep, chickens, and cows.

There's an indie (even more-so than Minecraft is now) sandbox game that I found when Minecraft completely lost its appeal called Haven and Hearth. Sort of like Minecraft except it isn't blocky, and has so much more content. And H&H, THAT'S real pvp. According to the previous definition I guess. It's like a player-run (versus admin-run) free-reign server. Except it's perma-death if someone kills you. And you're pretty much dead if you're not part of a village. Though my rather large settlement for a solo player has somehow avoided being raided through my inactivity.

I don't and won't play minecraft. Not only is it expensive, it is a terribly-coded, and bad graphics game.

Besides, I have many better things to do. Like program, for example

I bought it when it was cheap. :3

And I never play with the default graphics silly! I use OptiFine to get it running smoother and throw in a high-res texture pack and it fixes it up nicely.

It's only 25 dollars. You honestly think that's expensive as opposed to the full retail price of 60 dollars for a new game that comes out on consoles or PC? I wouldn't call the coding terrible, but it could definitely use some work. Having the game based almost completely in Java script was a bad idea from the get-go. And bad graphics? Really? You call that is a reason not to play a game?

Maybe not to you, but to me, $25 is a lot of money.

Haha.

*Java.
JavaScript would be impossible, or else very difficult.

I do. That is merely my opinion, take it with a grain of salt. (Or, in your case, a whole kilo would suffice.)

While this is your opinion I don't think its fair to say its coded wrong, I mean its the only game that generates a world that never ends and seemingly gets better with each update. Minecraft is still a rather new game. While its not cheap its a one off, you can go to the moves and drop $30 and not think twice about it. When it comes to a video game people are to picky.

I've been a gamer for a long time, Minecraft is a one of a kind game. People who have never played minecraft to me their opinion doesn't mean much. The game looking like shit, but after a while it grows on you hard to say.

Also my server IP has changed if anyone is interested in joining.

Obviously, the developers of the game go by the same ideology as Microsoft: "A bug in the current version sells you the next."

Well, in my case, it's that I'm a cheap Dutch person (http://www.expatica.com/nl/essentials_moving_to/country_facts/meet-the-dutch-a-look-at-dutch-stereotypes-160_12318.html#)

I still fail to see graphics as a reason not to play a game. If you have a stick that giant stuck up your ass about graphics, you need to re-prioritize what you look for in games.

So would you consider a regular game, let's just say Call of Duty for kicks, to have superior and far better graphics than Minecraft? Basing your judgement about a game on the graphics and making that a strong point in your judgement is absolutely ridiculous. Minecraft is a simple open world game. That's all you need to know about it. Open worlds appeal to most gamers because it gives them unlimited freedom. On top of that, the MC community has got to have some of the best modders out there. Wanna get rid of those pixel blocks? Bam, you got photo realism texture packs. Wanna add more items? Bam, you got mods that add even more than you might bargain for.

And I'm not taking this with a kilo, I'm simply stating MY opinion, which that's all it is: merely an opinion. So take that with a grain of salt.

I don't play it. I tried but I just find it VERY boring. There's not stimulation in it. I can find HEAPS of things to do in games like KOTOR, Mass Effect, Skyrim, etc, but I just can't find it in Minecraft.
