Try holding the power button until the screen goes black. The battery life will only slowly degenerate, as the processor isn't working. If that doesn't work, your only hope is to let the battery die.

Hold down the power button and home button for 15 seconds, It will force reboot it.

Above posts should answer your question, hold in the power button to force reboot or let the battery die ... if all else fails take it to the apple store and get a new one ... they seem to hand them out for any little problem
