So today I fell down, onto my stomach, but I didn't pay much attention because I was running from something (:X), and I just got back up and started to continue running, then I jumped across a small stream to a ledge that was higher than the level that I was at. I didn't notice any pain until about an hour after maybe ( and even then the pain wasn't much, just felt like my ankle needed to be cracked BADLY ). So I was cracking it for maybe another hour after that every once in a while, and I arrived at my cousins house where I sat down for a while (like 20-30 min). I then got up to have dinner with him and his family (I cracked my ankle right before I got up), and then it felt as if I had arthritis in my ankle. After dinner, I tried to stand up, and it felt TERRIBLE, I was wobbling trying to walk with as little amount of pressure as I can on it. We were on the way to the movies, and when I got out of the car it still felt the same. I walked around the movies, got my ticket, and then went outside to "self medicate" :). It helped and I could walk kind of normal, but I'm not sure if it was from the "extra potent" medicine, or from me just walking on it for a while. So then we go to the movie, I sit, and don't get up for the rest of the movie. It is bothering the hell out of me throughout the movie mind you ( as in severe pain :P). And then, the worst part. I try to get up after the movie. EXCRUCIATING pain, almost like someone stabbed a spear through where my ankle and leg connect. On the top-front part of my foot around where you tie your shoelaces, up to where my leg and ankle connect and make a curve. I couldn't even walk right with all my weight on my cousin and people were looking at me like wtf lol. Anyway, at this point it's terrible TERRIBLE pain, and it hurts to just have it up on my cousin's couch without moving it. It feels the worst it has all day right now and I took 2 high strength advil. I'm in shuddering pain as I'm typing this right now, so if anyone has had an experience like this, what was it, and I would be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY grateful if you could post please, I would honestly kiss your feet in order for anyone's help if I possible could. Also, I told you the whole story because it could have been any of those things, but I'm not sure, so I just said everything that came to mind.

Anyway, PLEASE help I am in severe severe paain right now :( I'm shaking right now in pain but im not cold at all.

EDIT: also I'm not looking for just a " go visit the doctor "... I would really like to know what it is before I go.. I don't like the doctor's lol.

Take the recommended amount of Tylonel and Ibuprofen together, they both impact both of the pain pathways of the body, twice the effects without twice the amount of medication.

Then go to stat care, have hit x-rayed, you need to have it checked out now if it is causing you this much trouble.

Also, ice is a good thing, wrap it in an washcloth and place the ice on your ankle, leave on for 15 min and then take off for20 then back on BUT go to the doctors is it is that bad.

Get ice on it would probably help. It wouldn't hurt to try to not walk on it and take it easy for a while. Good luck! Hope this can help. Oh you may try to see if you could get some pain killers if it's really that bad.

We're not gonna be able to tell you what it is, only that you should ice, rest, and elevate. could be sprained, broken, anything. See a doctor and take care of yourself.

Unless someone trained is there examining you there's no way any of us can say what it is, we do not have international x-ray vision to see whats going on. The doctors may suck but they are the ones which can help you and provide appropriate diagnosis, treatment and pain relief.

It sounds like either a Level 2 or 3 sprain, or a fracture of one of the bones, there a number of small bones in the foot and ankle.

In the meantime I agree with everyone else, Ice is for 20 Mins on, 2 hours off for 24 hours. Then 2 hours on, 4 hours off for the next 48 hours. DO NOT Use heat creams/rubs until all swelling has gone down, so around 72 hours. The faster you apply a cold compress the less time its going to take to heal. Avoid hot water, keep it elevated above the level of the heart, and take appropriate pain relief, preferably Ibuprofen as it will help with the swelling. Follow its instructions, never take more then stated on the label.

Yes I know you don't want people to say this but I'm saying it anyway, get it checked out by a healthcare professional.

Went to the doctor, sprained/tore two ligaments in my ankle. Crutches for 2 weeks, brace for 4 weeks. I'm still in a lot of pain though. Anyway, thanks for the help everyone.
