It's my bday tomorrow and my dad promised me a new phone since i've had my Samsung SGU-U900 for about 3 years now. I have a budget of £300 (about $460) and i have no ideas about what i really want. I was thinking maybe an HTC as my dad has the desire. I want to be able to use it for texting and the internet mostly so if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it.
I'm getting it tomorrow so it would be helpful before then :P
Got it narrowed down to Sony Ericsson:
- xperia ray
- xperia arc s
- xperia mini pro

Check them out
other than that I would recommend an iPhone or any other kind of android but don't get any of the newer androids because they tend to have problems like software wise
have fun !!!

I cant think of any specific mobile right now, but u might want to check out samsung and HTC. Even Sony Ericsson would do. If u want to use it for texting, then just find a phone with bigger screen, and thats also good for web browsing. I have samsung galaxy ace, and it doesnt support flash, but oh well. U could get it, its a good phone. Or you could get galaxy ace plus. Also, i think u could get galaxy S plus. its a great phone. I really think that galaxy s plus would be the best choise for amout of money you have. Good luck :D

Yeah don't go to HTC unless you're looking for something you'll need to replace within a few months or get frustrated with easily. You'd be better off looking into something else.

Most of the Android phones by well-known brands (Samsung, HTC, Motorola, etc) will serve you well, but I would look out for the 'Facebook phones' and the ones that have Android 2.2 or lower. The Facebook phones have a Facebook key on their keyboard and suck at everything, even their sole purpose. Android 2.2 (Froyo) is slowly becoming obsolete, so you really shouldn't get that. Usually the phone in the store will show what version of Android it is, but if it doesn't and a demo unit is available you can find out: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=27099c7cd45cf215&hl=en
You should also look out for 'crapware'. This is the term used for software that the companies put on their phones that usually can't be deleted without hacking. Some of the time helpful software is included, like a mobile office suite or something. Most of the time it's stuff that no one wants, like demos for games you probably won't buy.
If you have any more questions, I will be checking this forum every so often. :)

If you're going with android, get stock android. That means a Google phone. Pure Android is the best Android. I would specifically recommend the Galaxy Nexus. It's the ICS phone that kicks so much ass.

I have a HTC, it's alright.
I would say go for the samsung Galaxy like mentioned above. I don't think its THAT expensive now.
As for the Sony Ericssons you have chosen the xperia arc s is apparently amazing, so if it were any of those three I'd choose that.
