Don't have my license yet, but my dad did 4.5 seconds in my mums old car with a listed time of 4.2. Haven't got one with the Jag yet.
My friend did 6.9 seconds in his Holden Commodore SV6 Manual and another friend did 7.4 in his Ford Falcon BA Ute auto.

What about everyone else? Parents, friends or your own car.

Some more times:
Dads Chevy (Silverado 2500HD 6.0 with Allison tuning): 6.8 seconds.
Subaru STi 2006 with aftermarket intercoooler, turbo back mandrel bent exhaust and wound up boost: 4.1 seconds.
FPV F6 (tune and wound up boost): 4.8 seconds.
Mitsubishi Pajero (cammed, exhaust) 9.3 seconds.
And our Nautique ski boat does it in 5.5 :)
All of these are with stop watches so not 100% accurate.

I've got a diesel 130bhp VW golf. Timed at around 9.5 seconds 0-60, and 8.5s 30-70. Not bad for a 1.9 litre standard golf lol (think golfs are called 'rabbits' in other countries). Also still accelerating into 3 figures......but theres nowhere in England you can drive that fast........wish we had autobahns like Germany lol.

^ I've got a petrol Golf. 159hp stock, got a shabby factory chip that brought it to 181 lol. was about 7.2 seconds factory but now runs around 6.3ish. Fastest roads here are 100 but you go into the middle of nowhere, this thing goes to 160 and still goes.

P.S Too cheap to time it properly. Rough estimates :)

Apparently its the US where they call it a rabbit lol - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Golf

Anyway, I only bought mine for the fuel consumption (60 miles to the gallon (UK gallon)) and the extra power is just a cool extra advantage really lol. I'm trying to get another petrol for the summer (I change cars a LOT!), preferably a peugeot 306 GTI-6, 16valves and 170bhp as standard. :)

My stock '03 Ford Escape does a 0-60 in roughly 8 seconds. And that's with 126,000 miles on it mind you.

It does closer to 7 - 7.5 seconds when it's fresh off an oil change, with fully synthetic oil.

Edit: Probably worth mentioning that I have the 3.0L V6, with 201 horsepower stock. Probably around 170-180 horses now though, due to wear.

That's not bad for a four cylinder though, considering the American trucks aren't much faster 0-60 with double the cylinder and up to 4 times the displacement.
My dad was going to replace the Mitsubishi Tritons and Hiluxes that the mine uses with the Amaroks, but the Mitsubishis and Toyotas have been too reliable to get rid of. If you know how mine cars are treated, this is a damn good feat.

Dad has a Silverado with the Duramax. Admittedly it will beat any Japanese/European truck in our country, but it really is colonial considering the technology. He looked at all of them and chose the Chevy. The Ford F-250 and F-450 were nice trucks, and he almost bought one, but the wait was huge (2 months). The F-150 didn't have the towing capacity we needed and he didn't like the finish as much, yet we had limited options at what we could look at in person, there aren't many American trucks here.
Dad loved the Dodge finish, but it had a Cummins engine. Due to his job, he knows Cummins engines are rubbish, so that was that done.
The Chevy was available at the time he wanted to buy, the finish was with the Ford but not like the Dodge, and it had a Duramax engine, so he was sold, but he told me that if we didn't need to tow 4+ tonne, he would have saved thousands and bought a Japanese/European duel cab.

If America used decent technology and maybe learned a thing or two in reliability, they would have some of the best cars in the world. Unfortunately they don't. That being said, my dads Chev has a rough live and has had some work done and at 35,000km hasn't had an issue. Touch wood.
What I'm trying to say is, I don't see how an F-150 can make a VW seem like a Corolla, from what I have seen. But I haven't seen a top of the range model, so I may be mistaken.

Ah right, never driven any cars with turbo and superchargers but can see why they're used as the turbo lag I get is pretty bad (plus superchargers sound better lol).

And insurance is the same here, its only insurance that stops me having cars that I really want!! Just out of interest, how much do you pay for your insurance? I paid £900 for the golf insuarace this year which isn't too bad considering what others pay from college...some pay over £2000 for 1.1 petrol citroen saxos!

I know insurance in the UK is brutally expensive. We have government owned insurance in British Columbia. So everyone pays the same rate regardless of age or vehicle size. My insurance on my 1.6 liter Fiesta is about 100$ a month.

That's not bad for a four cylinder though, considering the American trucks aren't much faster 0-60 with double the cylinder and up to 4 times the displacement.

American trucks also weigh about 6,000 pounds and arent aerodynamic vs smaller, sleeker, 2500lb lighter cars. Where you really get power in American trucks is from around 30-90. Its all about torque there and thats what you get out of large V8s.

My dad was going to replace the Mitsubishi Tritons and Hiluxes that the mine uses with the Amaroks, but the Mitsubishis and Toyotas have been too reliable to get rid of. If you know how mine cars are treated, this is a damn good feat.

American trucks (at least Fords) are famously reliable. I dont know one person who's truck has died with under 100k miles, and that is with regular work.
Also, the trucks make VWs look like Corollas because they are faster while being 18ft long and 6000lbs. You expect a small car to be fast, so youre simply not ready for the acceleration in a pickup truck. Also, it is hard to beat the sound of a V8 with a free flowing exhaust system.

Haha yeah. Manual is pretty convenient I'd say and keeps me awake, parents stopped driving manual around 10-15 years ago when they got tired of it and traffic started building up. Meh.

My only mod was a little factory chip because I was too poor for the GTI. VW is in desperate times here though, outsold even by Audi last year, and they're trying to overtrade me if I upgrade but I'm waiting for Golf VII or the Scirocco update that comes then and might make the switch and work on that one. In all honesty my chassis ain't too good and it's only my suspension and Pirelli Corsas saving the day.

Not in America, VW gives us decent engines. It's a 1.8 TSI (turbo+supercharged) with a factory chip and magnaflow, churns out about 165kw (220hp ish) and a nasty amount of torque.

This is where Australia goes wrong. I can't drive a 1.8 TSI Golf because it's turbocharged/supercharged, but I can drive a 195kw Ford Falcon XR6.
Great logic there.

Haha that's standard insurance policy here. They rectified it though, to exclude diesels, then set an engine size limit. Then modifications, then anything with "sport" on it. Hence why I ordered the basic, barebody Golf then asked VW to fit it in the factory, so it's registered as a Golf 1.8. With the turbo... I had to kind of box them in, even brought a pile of papers (downloaded from wiki) explaining how a turbo works, and how it doesn't put me at a greater riisk to speed/kill. Long story short, they approved because I had a friend driving a G6E and there was no reason the same company wouldn't approve me if they did with him.

I don't have my liscence at 14. I sure do drive a shit tone though. i timed my girlfriends dads's 2011 bmw 760li. Its a big car, but i timed it and got 4.9 secs.
He let us take it. Two teens in a car that costed 145 grand... that spells disasterhttp://www.virtualteen.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Just went with my dad in his 2012 BMW 535i-xDrive and it was about 5 seconds 0-60.
And my Step moms BMW 740li was about 5.5 Seconds 0-60.

HA yeah right.

Did 5.1 in a 2012 Audi A7 in dynamic mode.

Note to everyone else, they're not asking what you think your friend's mommy's Cadillac can do, they're asking what you have personally done.

Why don't you just google "xxxxxxxxxx 0-60" if you wanted a bunch of kids making themselves feel better by saying their dad has a Ferrari California or apparently everyone on here has a BMW 760Li.

Because this is a forum, and I'm entitled to make whatever thread I want.
I'm interested in the genuine times that people have measured.
This is an online forum full of teenagers, of course some are going to lie.
Not everyone is lying about their parents owning a nice car. A lot of people work hard for their cars, homes etc. So what if some people have some pride in them or their parents working hard?

I don't mean to sound like I'm backseat modding or anything but it really annoys me when people judge someone for being successful. It degrades the work that someone has done to become successful.
I get how its frustrating seeing kids who are obviously lying to make themselves feel better on whatever, but it's not hard to ignore it :/

No, I tottaly agree. I mean, I can take a picture with my parents keys.. Im not trying to brag or anything about my family having money.. My parents just went to college about 12 years each to get to where they are..

Well, today I tried it on all of the cars. Took my Tahoe about 9.5 secs, my dads 535xi about 6 and my moms Prius took almost 11 seconds... Sad day for the prius lol

60? Whats that? I drive a jeep with 4 angry squirrels under the hood! I did actually time it once... Lifted, locked, and loaded down it did it in 15 seconds!
