View Full Version : Hard to give rep on iPhone?

I've been using my iPhone for web browsing recently whilst my laptop is getting fixed, and I've noticed that giving rep out on it is near impossible.
I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this or is it just the OS?

It's the same on my phone and tablet. I think it just gets pissy when it encounters a mobile client.

Glad it's not just me. It's a shame though, I've seen a few posts I'd love to give + rep too today, I never see them on my computer when I can give out rep.

I have yet to discover a fix for it; maybe somebody else hahaha.

It just takes a little fiddling around. iOS doesn't like JavaScript much.

I am running an iPod Touch 4G with iOS5 so maybe it was a little quicker, but I don't know. Basically I zoomed in, clicked it once, scrolled around a little, clicked it again then scrolled around very slowly and it worked.

For me, I can always get that far, but as soon as I click on the text entry field, it goes away.

Oh yeah it does when you start typing. Bit of a shame about that huh, have you tried other themes? If not, I don't think it will be fixed - not an issue with the forums so much as Safari on iOS.

It seems to disappear the first time, then just keep on disappearing every letter I type in but I can get it back. If I copy paste the comment then just do it that way then it will work. or just not leave a comment :P It is possible.

Yhea its not always easy like it is if you are using a laptop or computer.

Like Jon said though it just takes a little more fiddling about although half the time I just give up and take a mental note of it.

I have been able to enter a few letters, but after that, it'll either disappear, or automatically accept. I have this both with my iPhone and a tablet, and no,

I don't think it'll be fixed though.

This is caused by the way Safari handles Javascript on iOS.
There's nothing you or we can do to fix it, Apple has to issue an update for it. (Which they may have already, if you're not using the latest available version of iOS.)

If you disable javascript on your IOS device it should work. With it disabled instead of a pop up it will take you to a different page.

I never thought about copying it and pasting it... Genius, it's worked for me before.
As for the JavaScript, I might give that a go. Thanks Maverick!

That's kind of strange, considering that the popup windows and the little fold-out box are made with javascript :/
Huh, if it works it works, I guess

This I know. What I didn't know was that vB has a fallback if javascript is disabled/not supported. :P

But yeah, either way, glad you got it working. :)
