There's a girl from school and her birthday is coming up. I wanted to get her something, then I thought of something better... make one. Im going to take some round steel bar and make a heart shape, after I have the heart im going to cut letters out of some sheet metal and weld it into the center of the heart to spell her name and put a small hook on the top to hang up.. I already cut some peices and started bending the heart some. I don't know if she will take it as a "gift from a friend" or something more since it is a heart. If she takes it as something more, and something comes of it, I would be okay with that because I do like her. I just don't want her to take it as a romance thing and loose our friendship. How do you think she will think of it and how would you you take a gift like this from a guy?

Bit of a strange gift. But to be honest it depends on the person, I would take it as just a friend thing, but I know a girl who would think you were all into her.

Well I honestly I have been in an extremely similar situation (I had made a 3D rose) the girl and I had been friends for around a year and she took it as just a gift. Let's start with how well you know the girl. Are you really good friends or just 'eh we hang out in class and stuff but nothing much outside of school'? If you are really good friends and she knows you well, then she should take it as a gift. Hope I helped and good luck.

That sounds like an awesome idea. The best part is that it was handmade by you. If you want it to be not just a gift you can ask her out after you give it to her...

I just got a better idea... do what I was going to do but puto one of those 3D hearts across it. Her birthday is Monday... not sure if I will be able to finish it by then but if its a a few days late I think it might be ok. I want to go build it so bad but I have to wait. I figure, get the last few things I have to cut, cut tomarrow . Bend and weld the heart friday. Make the rose Saturday. And weld and grind everything Sunday. Hopefully paint Sunday night. Not sure if I can do it all that fast but im going to try.

I think what you are suggesting could go either good or bad when you give it to this girl. I would also ensure you have a back up gift incase you cant make the gift to look nice, you know incase you muck up the material

Just remembered I don't have school on Monday. Looks like I have another day. Im confident in my ability to make things. Im a good welder and have a lot of experiance in bendind metal to make things. As a matter of fact I just build a trailer from the ground up.
