I have been told that we export almost as much oil as we import. Why dont we just keep it seriously gas prices would go down and we would all be happy.

My dad told me that all electronics in the USA are made in the USA. Oh, and my social studies teacher told me the same thing.
Your argument is invalid. People can tell you anything -- does that mean it's true? I'll give you a conspiracy theory: the government of [-]the People's Republic of[/-] America wants you to believe that, to ease people's concern.
Someone in the CIA told me that. ;)

What if it were true wouldnt the US get more money form keeping the oil we have is importing the way to go. Because if we get into a war with iran the oil prices will Sky rocket

Yes. But it isn't true, so why weigh the options we don't have?

Yes, that's a fantastic idea. Let me know when you engineer the cars that can do it. I'm all for cutting down emissions and saving power, I really am (I'm an environmentalist), but it's easier said than done.

Either way it said that iran said we weren't allowed to put a Air craft carrier into the persian gulf and we are going to heres a link http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57351634/iran-warns-u.s-to-back-off-from-persian-gulf/

I actually up with that. Now before you guys start harassing me about how stupid it is listen. Moon shine is almost 100% alcohol if not watered down. straight Alcohol is very flammable so if you put it in a car gas tank it would run. The pork fat is to lubricate the pistons and all other moving parts. Like they did back in the day with big diesel engines. (this how i figured out how to fix the oil crisis and yes i know moon shining is illegal )

They have cars that run purely on electricity (http://venturebeat.com/2008/01/10/27-electric-cars-companies-ready-to-take-over-the-road/). And you can you use solar power to charge it. The only problem is those cars are rather pricey.

Understandable, but the problem is, the cars capable of running on the new fuel type must be funded, engineered, built, and then sold...to everyone. If it was that easy to solve the oil crisis, it would no longer be an oil crisis. It is possible to fuel a car using vegetables. Even salt water. But just because something is possible does not mean it is feasible.

That, and electricity causes other problems for the environment that scientists are trying to eliminate.

I know but i was just sitting in school one and it just hit me. The cars we already have could run off of it.

No they can't... We don't yet have the technology to implement it 100%, and if we did, like others' said, it would cost millions.

This what people that made in the 70s did if the didnt have money for gas so yes its possible.

But that's you personally. I'm not saying what you're suggesting is a bad idea, and that it wouldn't work for some people. I'm simply saying it's unfeasible with the way our society is. In a perfect world, all cars would run on salt water and everyone would have exactly the car they like. But it's not a perfect world.

electricity doesn't cause the environment any significant problems.
For oil, we need better fuel economy. Don't need SUVs and 4 passenger vehicles as much as we think. Rising gas prices would actually help. People would drive less and buy smaller cars that use less. If America paid what the Europeans do for gas, more people would choose to buy cars that got very good gas mileage.

It does enough damage to cause us to look for alternative energy sources like solar, wind, and water energy.

I kind of agree with this, although I don't think we can really afford to pay what Europeans do and still have a semi-functional economy.

Yeah, you're 100% right. We should stick to oil and pay 3.50$ a gallon instead of searching for an alternative source we could all use like solar energy. Besides, it's not like we're to ever run out of oil or anything like that.http://www.csmonitor.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/images/media/images/0602-oilpsill/8054584-1-eng-US/0602-oilpsill_full_600.jpghttp://www.warmdebate.com/sites/default/files/Megha/BP-oil-spill-pelican-2.jpg

You mean getting the electricity to power the car, or electricity itself? If you mean the electricity by itself; I would love to see where you read that.

If I bought a new many thousand dollar car, I would not get rid of the engine and convert it into an electric car.
Thats the whole reason why they use old 70s cars

Tax on petrol. What an original idea.
Whats that? The NZ govt has already done that and it just means the price of EVERYTHING goes up.
Did you know it costs petrol to send a letter or for a local butcher to get more produce.
