Okay, so this is really weird.

It use to happen not very often at all, like once a month for a very short amount of time (30 seconds at the most). Say if I wanted to open a jar, my hand would get stiff and I would have to shake it off and move my hand round clockwise/anticlockwise to stop it. It wasn't painful at all. NOTE that it doesn't just happen if I go to open a jar, it happens at the most random times- the jar was an example.

Now lately, it's getting more recent, and this morning it happened in my foot whilst I was sleeping and it was so painful that I had to get up and try and sort it out, and it lasted for a couple of minutes. It's happening in my hands like usual as well but again, more recent.

I don't understand what this is. If any of you know what could be happening to me, any replies would be much appreciated.

That happens to me sometimes. It can be painful, perhaps a muscle spasm. That might not be what you're experiencing, though.

Are your bones stiff or are your joints stiff?

Sounds to me like you might have a few things wrong, one could be an autoimmune disease called rheumatoid arthritis witch could be caused by a few things....look here (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000431.htm).

Something else that it might be, it could be a deficiency in your vitamin intake, you might have a deficiency of bioflavonoids, sometimes called Vitamin P....

Tendonitis is a inflammation of the tendons--muscle-to-bone connectors. A person can have tendonitis in any number of joints, but it is most common in the rotator cuff (shoulder), elbows and knees. There are certain supplements that people can take to heal tendonitis. Some of them are vitamins and minerals. Others have been specifically developed in recent years to treat tendonitis and arthritis for the aging population.
