If you ask me, I view Obama as a pretty average president. He's had a few achievements and he's made some bad decisions. Of course, he didn't live up to the ridiculous hype that was created during and after the 2008 elections (expectations that I am guilty of helping create).

My family isn't American, so we don't really have much to say in the way of American politics. For Australians, most of my extended family strongly supports the Labor party.

Personally, I would prefer a president with libertarian values, and Ron Paul has been my main interest in this election. However, OP, there's more to a president than being a "good spokesperson" and having "memorable speeches". Any president that goes down in history must change the nation for the better and act like a president, not a partisan puppet, and I don't really think Obama has done either.

I don't particularly care for Obama, but he isn't out of office yet. The Republicans seem to be having problems with all their candidates, as soon as one seems to be doing well, something comes up about a shady past, or something like that. The only real threat to Obama will be once the Republicans finally manage to get a nominee, most likely Romney, and the voters strongly support him. I think there is a good chance Obama will stay in the house, being the incumbent does have some advantage as well.

Your posts are barely readable. It's an amendment, not an amedment. Also, it seems you think your right to shoot stuff is more important to you than most everything else. Funny, though, Obama hasn't made any major moves for gun control. I guess you just drink in everything that you're told.

These are the reasons I will vote for Obama, rather than the Republican alternative, when it comes time to the election:

1) Obama is a much more ardent supporter of gay rights, although he has not yet said that he supports gay marriage.

2) Obama doesn't flip-flop like Mitt Romney. Being from Massachusetts, I know how similar the national health care plan is to the plan that was formed in our state back when Mitt Romney was governor. That plan has been mostly successful, but now Mitt's gone back on his word because it's more politically expedient to go against the national plan.

3) I hate the Republicans in Congress with a passion. They are much more obstructive than even the Democrats were under Bush, and that's saying something.

4) Any Republican elected will have to pander to the Tea Party, which will lead to ridiculous problems.

5) Obama's done a decent job. He hasn't lived up to expectations, but: the unemployment rate has dropped 1.5% since its peak; there have been no major banking sector collapses; the United States has withdrawn from Afghanistan; Osama bin Laden was killed; the economy has stabilized and GDP is now at an annual growth rate of 2.9%.

I could list more but that's enough for now.

Meh, I dislike Obama very much. For one he tried to pass a health care bill that would force everyone to pay for healthcare. I would prefer it if I wasn't FORCED to pay for something I may not want to pay for. I can understand if he wants to OFFER healthcare to those who are willing to pay, but otherwise its complete bullshit.

Whoever was talking about being influenced by someone close to you... OF COURSE THEY WERE INFLUENCED IN SUCH A WAY. Lets face it people typically adopt what their parents believe. Am I saying that's a bad thing? No. I mostly say this because parents or others you use to form your political believes around begin "brain washing" you at a very early age. In my experience both sides are able to make good points, that's why you believe the first thing you hear. On the other hand once you believe what one side has told you, it might be hard to look at another side's view as rational. I recommend anyone who has no idea what they are talking about, look up what you're claiming to believe before you say something stupid.
