The point of a chorus's existence is to emphasise a certain verse, use it to piece together the song. That purpose is made redundant when the chorus is sung too many times as 'emphasis' is replaced with 'repetition', something you do not want to do. I suggest you don't focus as much on structuring it with a verse-then-verse-then-chorus etc kind of structure in mind. Rather, I think it'd be better if you wrote down everything you wished to convey before worrying about structural features like the chorus - personally I even think that lots of songs would do well without it.
